Discover how color influences the way we see the world around us during this interactive presentation! 🎨

As the founder of Beyoutiful Color Analysis + Makeup in Beaumont, Texas, Emily’s work explores the relationship between color and human perception.

Through a live demonstration and audience participation, guests will explore the foundations of color theory, learn why certain colors enhance natural features and uncover the unique role of orange within seasonal color palettes, making a colorful connection to the Stark Museum of Art’s current exhibition, “The Color Orange.” 🧡

This presentation will be held on Thursday, September 24 at 6PM in the Walter G. Riedel III Education Center at the Stark Museum of Art.
Admission is free - no reservations needed.

🔸"The Color Orange" Artwork Highlight🔸

The palette and paints featured in “Palette” belonged to Joseph Henry Sharp, an American painter (1859-1953) that was a founding member of the Taos Society of Artists. Fascinated by light, he studied how to depict that element of nature and how to portray its effects. Many of his works appear throughout the museum and are featured in “The Color Orange” exhibition, on view through October 3.

This two-volume work was created and published by Elizabeth Blackwell in 1737 to raise funds to free her husband from debtor’s prison. With 500 illustrations identifying medicinal plants, Blackwell became the first woman to produce an herbal of this scale. In this slide talk, Stark Museum of Art Curator Sarah Boehme, PhD will discuss these detailed illustrations, including "The Orange Tree," and Blackwell’s connections to English botanical gardens. 📖
