To , and the Offstage Community:

I, Cathrine Ji, owner and co-founder of LMNL, would like to offer a sincere apology for the recent social media situation that has touched all of you. I was once a dedicated student at Offstage and am to this day grateful for my experience, its wonderful teachers and community. I will always regard Offstage, LMNL’s close neighbor, with our deepest appreciation and affection. I do not want a division but a union, where we can support and grow together for the sake of movement community at large.
I want to acknowledge that David Lim has built something special for everyone and has done this by the dint of his sacrifices and dedication - I have seen him play the role of parking attendant almost every time I have come to take a class at Offstage - and I do not want anyone to diminish his incredible accomplishments and contributions in any way to distinguish LMNL. LMNL is different from Offstage because the founding principles are different but I want to emphasize that both spaces have their unique roles and functions for the movement community and are made of dreams - not selfishly but for the community. I want to thank David Lim, Offstage and the Offstage community for the inspiration they have provided to countless people worldwide, which includes me. LMNL and I will always be grateful to them.

Again, in closing, I PLEAD for kindness, understanding and compassion and to ask that we use this public platform mindfully, with extreme care - for the betterment of the community and not as a tool to cause irreparable hurt and division.
We can do better. I will do better.

Every story has its sides and I write to protect the people who are connected to LMNL, from staff, artists, students, performers, vendors, et al.
We at LMNL hold with love and regard the artists who, through sacrifices and unstinting passion, share their art here and elsewhere. We endeavor to create a space where you can blossom, feel free to share your creativity and to show you that you’re deeply appreciated. We also hold space for students who come from all walks of life and economic backgrounds. We have a Gratis Program here - where students can take classes free of charge, without questions asked. Because art should not always cost and is a public good. When an artist unilaterally engages in a financial relationship with students without a discussion or agreement of the space where the artist shares, it is necessary for the protection of LMNL’s ethos and community to pursue a discussion and clarification with the artist. We do this to hold everyone in a state of healthy balance. If the pursuance of such clarity puts the artist in a state of misalignment, then we ask the artist to reflect inwardly and not publicly project that onto a space that has held the artist is a state of grace and love. That regard will not change and has not changed.
I, Cathrine Ji, the owner and co-founder, of LMNL is responsible. And I am not perfect but is someone who is striving daily to become human - the best human I can be. LMNL is blameless and was created to be here for all of you and will remain so.
We thank you for bringing your love and support to bear upon this fledgling community space for artists and for those who believe in the healing power of art. Let us mend and not create rifts and strife. The world, tragically, is too full of them already.
In closing, we ask all of you to use this public platform responsibly, with utmost care and caution. Because you can break lives and cause incredible damage and hurt.
