PSA: Brought to you by ITAV
Volunteering is a great way to give back to the Village we're creating, but knowing the rules is essential for the safety of not just the kiddos, but the school, the district and YOURSELF.
Know what category level you're willing to serve as and make sure you follow the policies.
What’s New? We have established clear guidelines and screening levels for different types of campus visitors and volunteers:
Visitors: For individuals attending school events, parent/teacher conferences, or having lunch with a student. (Requires a Government-issued ID and S*x Offender Registry check through Raptor).
Level 1 Volunteers: For volunteers who are always supervised by a CCDS employee (e.g., room parents, book fair helpers, ticket takers). (Screening includes a background check. The $17.55 fee is valid for three years).
Level 2 Volunteers: For volunteers who may work with students without direct staff supervision (e.g., field trip chaperones, volunteer coaches, mentors). (Screening includes fingerprinting and state/federal background checks. The $81.75 fee is valid for five years).
Important Information for Returning Volunteers:
Previous Level 1 Volunteers: Because our screening process and system have been updated, all previous Level 1 volunteers must submit a new application for this school year.
Current Level 2 Volunteers: If you are currently approved as a Level 2 volunteer (valid for five years), you do not need to reapply at this time.
We encourage you to review the attached Volunteer Info Flyer for a complete breakdown of roles, examples, and screening details.
