THIS SUNDAY!! This class is perfect for those wanting to audition for our upcoming productions if the Queen show and “Chasing Woodstock”. (October)
Broadway Knights is proud to present a one night only, Pop/Rock Song Interpretation/Audition Master Class with Brian Justin Crum and Ruby Lewis on Sunday July 24 at the the Chance Theater. With so many of the musicals being written and performed today falling under the Pop/Rock category, today’s performers need to know how to interpret Pop/Rock material for the audition room and their performances. We will explore the voice and how it conveys emotion, breakdown lyrics, discuss song comprehension and interpretation. We ask each student to bring two one-minute cuts of contrasting Pop/Rock songs (either sheet music in proper key or karaoke track on a smart phone/iPad) which will be worked on with Ruby and Brian to build a strong audition/performance piece. Some points of emphasis will be intention, coloring, phrasing, vulnerability, expression, and physicality. This master class will help musical theater performers find a Pop/Rock edge to their auditions and performances. Class is $125.00 per student who will work directly with Brian and Ruby on their song. The cost to observe the class and participate in the Q & A is $30.00. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]

“I really enjoy interpreting songs. Singing songs of my favorite artists. I think I have a special gift in making those songs my own. I wasn’t a naturally gifted songwriter so its taken a lot of learning pains for me to get to a point where I’m comfortable in that space. I’m still learning but I do feel its the most authentic way to share my experience with the world…to say things in my own words… its scary but its important for me.” – Brian Justin Crum
