ArtWalk begins at the Sioux City Art Center at 5:30 then you walk the galleries at your pace, or you can use our suggested times. See you April 23rd

Mural painting

We are excited to announce that we will begin painting the new murals for the Sioux City Art Center's Gilchrist Learning Center this Saturday, March 7 from 2pm - 5pm. This event is open to all high school students in Sioux City and the surrounding area! No painting experience is necessary! We will be providing all of the supplies.

Please help us spread the word! This is the first of two community-painting days that will take place at the art center. The next community-painting day will take place after the completion of the first half of the mural, about a month from now.

Charcoal drawings begin with simple shapes - sphere, cone, water drops. Challenges is to avoid outline and directional lines for smooth shading. Next exercise is pawn pieces: black charcoal on white paper; white on black; and B&W one toned/gray. Final project is personal choice; some choose to do a series.
