Ten years ago today, the Chattanooga Times Free Press and Noticias Libres featured the unveiling of the Collegedale Veterans Memorial Mural, dedicated the day before on May 31, 2016.

Painted to honor the men and women who served our nation, it remains the onlCity of Collegedalein Collegedale,TN.

A decade later, it is still fulfilling its purpose: preserving stories, honoring sacrifice, and helping us remember.

From clay to bronze, this sculpture honors Corky Coker’s remarkable legacy in the hot rod community. Thank you to Corky, , and The Coker Museum at Honest Charley for trusting me with this special project.

Some moments don’t unfold the way we plan—but the work continues.

This Wednesday, I was meant to make the drive to Lancaster, PA for the ribbon cutting and opening events of The Thaddeus Stevens & Lydia Hamilton Smith Center for History & Democracy. I had planned to bring this clay study with me—to photograph it at the burial sites of Thaddeus Stevens and Lydia Hamilton Smith, as well as at other historical locations tied to their lives—and to spend time with friends from the Thaddeus Stevens Society.

More than anything, I was looking forward to being there—to study, to listen, and to be inspired by the place, the stories, and the legacy they left behind.

Due to a shoulder injury, I won’t be able to make the 10-hour drive 😞

This piece began on April 4th—Stevens’s birthday. My vision is for each figure to stand on its own, telling its own story… while becoming even more powerful when experienced together. A shared presence. A deeper truth.

I’ll be making the trip soon—to visit and tour the Center, and walk the streets they once did. For now, the work continues here in the studio.
