Whether you had a 200 average or were considered a "pie chucker," it was an exciting day for local bowling enthusiasts when Downtown Bowl owners Charles R. Latimer and Wilbur H. Latimer opened their state-of-the-art venue on September 12, 1959. The eight-lane bowling alley, shown here in this image at 218 West Holt Blvd., promised the latest AMF equipment in automatic pinspotters, score projectors, and ball returns. In their spare time, bowlers could enjoy refreshment in the on-site coffee shop that served breakfast, lunch, dinner, homemade pies, tasty ice cream treats, and ice-cold beer. The Ontario Museum of History & Art (OMHA) and the Chaffey Community Museum of Art (CCMA) have announced the return of the free Ontario Arts Festival, taking place Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10 AM – 5 PM in the Downtown Ontario Arts District. 🌹

Now in its sixth year, the festival continues to exemplify the City’s commitment to making Ontario the premier destination for arts and culture in the Inland Empire.

This year, the festival has extended its footprint to over 70 artist booths, live art demonstrations, hands-on art-making activities, public art installations by resident Ontario artist Eva Grello, and a special exhibition of Ontario’s heritage celebrating the legacy and beauty of Ontario’s iconic Armstrong Roses.

John Armstrong first hybridized These iconic roses here in Ontario, California, in 1889.

We hope to see you there!
