The Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band The Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band is based in Ontario, California, about 35 miles east of Los Angeles Jack Mercer. Spring Auditorium.

The Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band is based in Ontario, California, about 35 miles east of Los Angeles, and is under the direction of Dr. Gabe Petrocelli with Director Emeritus R. Band members are not just from Ontario, but represent at least 2 dozen nearby communities as well. Adult musicians are always welcome to participate. Rehersals are on Monday evenings from 7 to 9:30 PM at the Chaffey

High School Jack Mercer Band Room, 1245 North Euclid Avenue, just south of the Interstate 10 Freeway. The band performs monthly concerts in the historic Gardiner W. All performances are free to the public.

The musicians of the Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band and the Patricia Borland Family are proud to present a program entitled "Show Band Favorites" on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in Gardiner W. Spring Auditorium located on the campus of Chaffey High School at 1245 N. Euclid Ave. in Ontario. The Woodwind Celebration Ensemble will present a pre-concert recital in the lobby at 7:00 p.m. Complimentary coffee and cookies will be served in the lobby prior to the concert. The performance is FREE to the public.

The concert will feature selections from the 40th Anniversary Season of the Show Band as well as other fan favorites. It will start with a traditional band composition entitled "Toccata for Band" and end with a medley titled "Big Fun In The Sun" from our first show of the 40th Anniversary Season, "Back to Our Roots," last September.

Also featured will be Show Band clarinetist Neil Vargas performing one of the most recognizable clarinet songs to hit the airwaves, "Stranger on the Shore." Show Band percussionist and vocalist Natasha Le will be singing "Evermore" from Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" and "Memory" from the musical "Cats." Vocalist Joscelyn Washington will sing "Let It Go" from the Disney movie "Frozen" and a duet with Show Band director Pat Arnold titled "Quando, Quando, Quando." Bass guitarist Tom "Elvis" Hill will sing "Jailhouse Rock." Show Band trumpeter Gary Simpson will play the third movement from Haydn's "Trumpet Concerto" and Kathy Soderlund will dance to "Malaguena." And last, but not least, Francisco Mowatt will be featured on alto saxophone playing the Stevie Wonder classic hit "Isn't She Lovely."

The musicians of the Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band and the Al & Jennifer Boling Family are proud to present a program entitled "Swing, Swing, Swing" on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held at the Ontario Town Square Bandshell on Euclid Ave. between "B" & "C" Streets in downtown Ontario. The Woodwind Celebration Ensemble will present a pre-concert recital at 7:00 p.m. The performance is FREE to the public, so please bring a lawn chair as the seating is limited.

The concert will feature songs from the "Swing" and "Jazz" eras, including "Let's Dance," "Leap Frog," "Wood Choppers Ball," "Caravan," "I'll Be Seeing You," "Stomping at the Savoy," "Sentimental Journey," Glenn Miller's "In The Mood," and more! The Show Band is excited to have three outstanding guest performers returning to our stage, Shelia Ruff, Peter Gutierrez and Homero Chavez. The Colony High School Orchestra, under the direction of Michael Bachman, will perform with the Show Band for a special tribute to jazz flugelhornist Chuck Mangione. Also featured will be Director Pat Arnold on vocal and tenor sax, Dancer Kathy Soderlund, Show Band solo musicians Steve Collins on Flugelhorn and Neil Vargas on Clarinet, along with the outstanding musicians of the Show Band.

Sheila Ruff has had a lifetime of singing all across the U.S.A. She worked as a vocalist for the Tony Barrasso Orchestra, the Bill Black Combo, and Monte Bleu Orchestra at the Boca Raton Hotel and Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas, and also with Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley.

Peter Gutierrez is a 2023 graduate of California State Polytechnic University at Pomona with a degree in music performance on trumpet. Peter is in high demand and has performed throughout the United States and in Europe. He has played in various venues, including Disneyland, Sea World, Legoland, and other venues. He has also played with the Blue Note Swing Orchestra in Italy, France and Spain.

Homero Chavez is a world-renowned drummer, percussionist, producer, band leader, and educator. He was born in El Paso and over the years has developed into an innovative musician, instrument designer, band leader and clinician.

In addition, brass instrument students from the Ontario Montclair School District and Mountain View School District will be honored as recipients of the Jack Mercer Brass Scholarship. They are trumpeter's Ian Santos, Tyler Welcome and Luca Rosales, and Theodore Williamson on trombone. Each student will perform a short musical selection.

The musicians of the Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band and the Jim Milhser Family are proud to present a program entitled "Salute to Entertainment" on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in Merton E. Hill Auditorium, located on the campus of Chaffey High School at the corner of Euclid Ave. and 5th Street in Ontario. The Woodwind Celebration Ensemble will present a pre-concert recital in the auditorium lobby at 7:00 p.m. Complimentary coffee and cookies will be served in the lobby prior to the concert. The performance is FREE to the public.

The concert will feature songs from the world of entertainment, including many Broadway hits, including "What I Did For Love," "On The Street Where You Live," and the "Impossible Dream." The Show Band is excited to have two outstanding guest performers returning to our stage, Bobby Collins and Emilio Pichardo, and performing for the first time with the Show Band will be newcomer Loren Martinez.

Bobby Collins has been singing and dancing on stage for more than 35 years. He has performed in many productions including roles in "Singing in the Rain," "Young Frankenstein," "The Producers," and "Merrily We Roll Along." He is the managing artistic director for the Inland Valley Repertory Theatre, and by day he is the principal of Rancho Cucamonga Middle School.

Emilio Pichardo is a member of The Seventh Variety, an international collegiate quartet and The Westminster Chorus, the current international champion chorus. He is a voice coach with the Inland Pacific Ballet and teaches voice at the Christian Arts & Theatre in Corona.

Loren Martinez has performed as a soloist as well as for various theater companies and choirs all over the U.S. She has over a decade of experience in music education and is currently a music teacher in the Alta Loma School District, and is also the choir director at Water of Life Community Church in Fontana, California.

Also featured will be Show Band musician Steve Collins on Flugelhorn, along with the musicians of the Show Band performing highlights from "The Music Man" and "West Side Story."
