Yesterday was busy!

We had two groups; Eagle Island Camp and a hiking club from Maryland.

Both groups got to hear about the history of the Center, the recent land acquisitions, and the story of How The Bear Clan Got Their Medicines.

Both groups also learned a lot about residential schools and the impacts on Indigenous people.

Between these two groups and drop in visitors, we had a total of 57 visitors!

Our 7th annual Campfire and Legends night was held on Saturday, August 22nd. Approximately 130 visitors heard several stories by David Kanietakeron Fadden and Arihhonni David, ate s’mores, and sampled strawberry drink!

Dave started the evening by talking about the history of the Center and the new land acquisition as demonstrated through the Two Row Wampum Belt. Campfire favorites shared by Dave and Honni included: Needles the Porcupine, the Vampire Skeleton, and the Flying Head.

And we couldn’t have done it without the help of our amazing volunteers! Niawenkó:wa to:

Storytimes are included with regular admission so you can listen to a story and learn about the Haudenosaunee from our wonderful educators ☺️

🔥 CAMPFIRE AND LEGENDS 🔥

Join us on August 22nd 7pm-9pm for an evening of Haudenosaunee stories! Visitors will get to hear stories from renowned storytellers David Fadden and Arihhonni David, enjoy s'mores and strawberry drink, and visit the cultural center and gift shop! This event is open to everyone!

Please bring your own chairs/blankets as seating is limited, extra sweaters in case it gets cold, and bug spray for the pesky mosquitos 🦟

Admission will be at the time of the event - no pre-registration is required.
Seniors (65+) - $7
Adults - $10
Kids (13 and younger) - $5
Free for Onkwehonwe
