Mob Front Records

Mob Front Records Recording Studio Mob Front Records is a multiroom recording studio specializing in capturing full ensembles live simultaneously.

Each of the studio's two rooms were designed to encompass different types of ambience. The live room is the larger of the two and creates a full, vibrant environment great for acoustic instruments such as drums, strings, brass or vocals. Our second room is chambered using a baffled, adjacent room to trap unwanted reflections. This dead room was created for amplified instruments like guitar or bass

but also works well for situations calling for a tight, dry sound. Each room is connected via sight lines, headphones, and punch blocks allowing for players to perform simultaneously while still having separation between the different instruments. The studio provides many services and has been utilized for: post production work, film scoring, ensemble recording, music production, sampling, podcasting, overdubbing, mixing, mastering, gig rehearsal, and a setting for film and photography sessions. Mob Front Records has a competitive day rate of $250 including engineer services. Other needs and services can be meet with prior notice upon booking. Please send a message here to set up dates to book a tour and session.

Mob Front Records recording #001 was this the debut of The Disabled released in 2005. The low amount of funds to budget the album resulted in the band recording two takes of each song in a single day with Brian Herb of Mother of All Music then choosing the best takes and tracking overdubs the next morning. The resulting "worts and all" style became somewhat of characteristic of the group and the label in kind.

There are basically two types of record labels: Type one which provides bankroll and type two which offers recording capabilities. Though both frequently provide each service most small time lables usually lean toward one or the other. Mob was the later providing artist a place to record. The studio was as cobbled together as the photo (of the tracking room) leads you to believe but it did its job and was a hub for many who might not ever had a chance to document their work.
