Let’s Play Mahjong and have a Fall Apple Cider Cocktail (or Mocktail)!

Join us for open play Mahjong hosted by Leticia Nix of Omahjong. This is the perfect excuse to gather your friends, sharpen your tile-tapping skills, and enjoy a Friday fall inspired cocktail at Millwork Commons - 1210 Nicholas Street.

What to expect:

Welcome cocktails and cocktails start at 5pm. Nosh on fall snacks and our full market menu. Note: food service ends at 7pm.

Two hours of open play starting at 5:30pm: Bring your favorite strategies, share tips, and learn from fellow Mahjong enthusiasts in a friendly, social setting. All sets will be provided, but please bring your 2026 NMJL card.

3 guided play tables available for beginners who need help with rule clarifications or those looking for strategy input. Great for beginners who want a little more practice before joining an open play. Note: this is not a formal lesson.

Additional drinks and snacks available for purchase at the market. There will also be prizes!

☠️ Traitors Themed Dinner this Spring ☠️

This week got so busy that I ran out of time to be nostalgic 😆.

Ahead of tonight’s dinner, I wanted to look back a little bit more, and The Traitors themed dinners we did this spring are definitely in our Top 5. Scottish Highland themed menu, a little bit of murder, and a ton of great outfits.

I’m working on a Traitors themed holiday party now and more clients than ever this year are incorporating games, music, and even magic into their holiday parties. Reach out soon if you want to take your holiday celebrations to the next level. We’d love to help you make a memorable evening!

🍅 A moment to look back at some of our favorite past dinners… 🍅

By our nature, Tony and I aren’t the most nostalgic people. The past few years opening Heirloom Fine Foods Market and Cafe Millwork Commons has been a blur and made us focus constantly on what event, menu, food order, sandwich order, is coming next. It’s been a wild ride, to say the least!

As summer winds down and the days grow a little crisper, I always get a little daydreamy. Especially about past dinners parties because they’re our bread and butter and our most favorite events to plan and execute.

Friday is our SOLD OUT Nantucket themed end of summer dinner. I thought it would be fun this week to look at some of our most memorable ticketed dinner parties.

Last summer, we threw a Tomayto, Tomahto themed dinner hosted by Katy Joyce with wines curated by Michael Kennedy. Each course had a tomato element and the arrangements Blue Fern by Chevelle were fresh from the garden.

🍓 🌽 Savoring Summer 🌽 🍓

Last week was a busy one. We’re working on some new desserts and executed a pavlova with corn sauce, strawberry ice cream and fresh strawberries. Tasted like summer.

I love when guests we know perk up when they realize we’re cooking for them. I love hearing “now I know it’s going to be great” and having our FOH tell how someone said “wow this looks great” when plates go down.

Guests will enjoy a welcome seafood tower and a glass of champagne or mocktail upon arrival, followed by a Nantucket inspired family clambake style dinner and dessert served at our long table. Each course will include the option for a wine pairing or a la carte drinks.

$175 per person with Wine Pairings- ticket price includes 1 welcome glass of champagne and hors d’oeurves, dinner with wine pairings, dessert, and gratuity for Heirloom employees working the event.

$125 per person Non-Alcoholic - a la carte wine and mocktails available for purchase

Additional beer, wine, and cocktails will be available for purchase throughout the evening, if desired.

This is a communal table dinner and is limited to 30 guests.

👩‍🌾 🧑🏼‍🍳 Summer Cooking School - A Trip to the Farmer’s Market 👨🏽‍🍳 🧑🏻‍🌾

My new favorite class! We went to the farmer’s market stand, shopped for produce and talked to the farmers, came back and cooked summery dishes then had a lovely lunch together.

10/10. Can’t wait to do another one soon.

☀️ Summer, Summer, Summertime, Time to Kick Back and Unwind ☀️

It may be super hot, it may be super stormy, but that couldn’t keep a great party last night down. I didn’t take many photos because I was preoccupied talking to guests and talking to my new future chef 12 year old friend. Great night all around!
