Omaha Film Festival

Omaha Film Festival Festival Dates are March 9-14, 2027. All screenings at AKSARBEN Cinema www.omahafilmfestival.org

ESTABLISHED IN 2005, the Omaha Film Festival (OFF) began as a way for the Omaha community to experience the artistry of independent filmmaking through the exhibition of new films by aspiring artists that are otherwise unavailable for viewing in the area. The Festival showcases over 100 films during its annual event, selected from an average of close to 1000 annual entries that come in from around

the world, offering a wide variety of independent cinema choices that includes regional and world premier films as well as advanced screenings of films that have already attracted wider distribution. Narrative features, documentaries, short films, and animated shorts are screened during the week-long Festival, with a special section for Nebraska-made films as well. The selected filmmakers are invited to attend the festival and are given the opportunity to discuss their films with the audience after each screening.

Here's another chance to check out the theatrical run of the OFF'26 narrative feature film "If I Tell You," directed by Tessa Black and based on the acclaimed novel Closed Doors by Lisa O'Donnell. A film about a family's pressing secret as their 12-year-old son finds his voice and the courage to stand up for what is right.

If you saw it at OFF'26 you'll remember the powerful Q&A after the screening with producer Erin Mae Miller so don't miss this opportunity to support the film and the message and catch it in theatres now.

A big congratulations from the Omaha Film Festival to Victor Caballero on being named Interim Executive Director of the deadCenter Film Festival!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Victor and his wife to Omaha for OFF’26, where Victor screened his short film and joined our OFF Academy as a filmmaking mentor for 70 Omaha-area high school students. Victor immediately made an impression on us. He was knowledgeable, generous with his time, and incredibly kind to our students. His passion for film education and his commitment to helping young filmmakers find their voice were clear from the moment he walked into the room.

Since becoming deadCenter’s Director of Education and Outreach, Victor’s work has reached more than 63,000 students across Oklahoma, an incredible accomplishment and a reflection of the impact he continues to make.

deadCenter is Oklahoma’s largest film festival, its only Oscar-qualifying festival, and will soon celebrate its 27th year. We are excited to see Victor step into this leadership role and continue building a strong and connected filmmaking community in Oklahoma and beyond.

Congratulations, Victor! We’re proud to have had you as part of the OFF family this year, and we can’t wait to see what comes next for you and deadCenter. Your friends in Omaha are cheering you on!
