|| Structure || In a not so surprising fashion, this new job working on construction sites is giving me new information into ways the world and buildings a structured and teaching me a lot about everything.
The structure and beams and foundation of a building are so important, if there are flaws in these things, everything after can be at risk for collapse or damage from the elements. It’s so worth it to take your time at this stage to make sure things are right and in their place.
Unfortunately when in this stage a building looks much more lackluster. It can be hard to imaging the walls, and lights, and furniture, and everything that gives the building the rest of its shape and truly brings out its character. But in the end it’s all a reflection of the sturdy (or not so sturdy) framework at its core.
With a combination of moving a lot in the last couple months, living farther across town from the things and community I love, and just getting into a new rhythm of life it feels like a strong stage of restructuring. Life currently feels very barren, lackluster, and distant. I know it’s worth while, and I think it’s building me for some better than before, but I often feel bare, confused, out of place in the day to day, and unsure of what the final product will look like.
You just have to hold true during times like this, and keep doing slow intentional work. The final product is only there in brief outline, but you will be so glad you laid a solid foundation when the storms start coming.
