If your child has been asking about dance classes and you assumed you missed your chance… keep reading!

The season has already started, and yes, there’s still room for your dancer.

We get this question from families all the time and the answer is almost always the same: it’s not too late.

This month on the CSD blog we’re breaking down exactly what joining mid-season looks like, why your dancer doesn’t need to have anything figured out before their first class, and how a Discovery Class can make the whole decision feel a lot less overwhelming.

Every year before competition season really gets going, Spotlight Dance Company takes a day that has nothing to do with dance 🎃

No music, counts, or corrections.

Just piling into a pumpkin patch together, being kids, and remembering that the people you compete with are also the people you laugh with, lean on, and show up for all season long.

It’s one of our favorite traditions because it’s a reminder of what we’re really building here. Not just a team of dancers but a group of people who genuinely love being together.

That’s what makes Spotlight, Spotlight 💚

What if my child cries, is shy, or gets anxious?

This is one of the most common questions we get from new dance parents and Mr. Trevor and Mrs. Andrea have a lot to say about it.

The short answer? Let them. The instructor has it.

Caitlyn came into Encore ready to create and she'll be the first to tell you the hardest part wasn't the movement...

It was the math!

Six dancers. One space. A whole lot of choreography. And the very real challenge of making sure nobody runs into each other while doing it.

Formations for a group piece are no joke and watching these dancers figure that out together was one of our favorite parts of the whole experience.

A little over a month back and just look at this place 💚

Shuffles, pliés, pointe shoes, and new friendships already forming. Different ages, different levels, same love for being here.

This is what September at CSD looks like and we wouldn’t trade it for anything!

The littles are finding their footing. The older dancers are pushing themselves further than last season. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, something special is already starting to build.

This is the part of the season that doesn’t always make it to the highlight reel. The early weeks. The repetition. The getting comfortable. But this is where everything begins and we love every single second of it ✨

If you're looking for a dance studio AND you don't know what to look for... this one's worth watching!

Mr. Trevor and Mrs. Andrea are breaking down the exact things that are important to keep an eye out for and it goes so much deeper than a pretty lobby and a great recital.

Like, does the instructor know your child's name? Are they giving individualized corrections or just talking to the room? Can your dancer laugh with their teacher? What does that relationship actually look like?

Those are the questions worth asking.

Because the right studio isn't just teaching technique, it's building your child up, knowing them as a person, and making sure you as a parent feel informed, welcomed, and heard.

This is what we believe at CSD. And we think every family deserves to know what to look for, whether they choose us or not 💚

Nora's choreographic process is as unique as the work she creates ✨

Pick a song. Start moving. If it feels right, write it down.

No overthinking. No waiting for inspiration to strike. Just a dancer who trusts her body to lead the way and then captures it before it disappears!

This is what Encore is all about. Giving dancers the space to figure out HOW they create.
