Thanks to the lovely folks at Larksong Writers Place, I’m leading a new workshop: Reflections in Verse: An Ekphrastic Writing Workshop Inspired by Seeing Double

We’ll begin with a guided walk through the Assemblage gallery led by curator Anne Pagel, taking time to connect with the pieces that speak to us. Then I’ll lead you through writing prompts to help transform what you see into what you say - on the page.

It's been almost a decade since I had major surgery on my neck and chest. Long enough that it doesn't sit in front of my mind anymore. I forget most days. Then, someone remarks on the scar, and I think, Oh yeah - I survived that.

The only part of my former self that I miss is my voice. I recently realized that whole sections of my community only know this new, high-pitched version of me. I low-key detest it, but it's better than the silent alternative.

This is to say, if you listen to a video of me and think I sound different, I do. I know.
