We’ve been busy in the background. 👀

✨First up: our most recent stakeholder meeting! If you’re new to OSSO, our stakeholders are the folks who keep this whole thing moving year-round—offering their time, energy, ideas, and hearts to keep Old School Shakespeare on its feet. Thank you, stakeholders!

✨Then we donned our best, homemade Rude Mechanicals costumes and ventured to BFF and Giant Joy Collective Handmade Parade. We had THEE best time. Omaha is just bursting with so much creativity and joy. We’ll definitely be back next year.

✨Stakeholders, Rachel and Zachary headed up to Blair to talk Shakespeare’s text and work with some folks at the library. Spreading the Shakespeare love!

✨And, finally, we’ve had our first read-through of King Lear and a workshop to help us get ready for the violence in the play. Sure we o may have one rehearsal, but we always take time to work together around intimacy and violence, to ensure consent and safety stay part of OSSO’s culture.

Thank you, Omaha!

We are so honored to receive two Omaha Ent. & Arts Awards nominations for Hamlet (Outstanding Drama) and The Comedy of Errors (Outstanding Comedy)!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who nominated us. And thank you to the whole darn village that makes these shows possible:

💛Our actors and prompters who showed up and made the work.

💛The bars and venues who welcomed us in and gave these projects a place to live.

💛The photographers who came out and captured these nights (photographers are tagged in their respective photos!).

💛And every single person who came to see us, laugh with us, listen to us, and create community with us!

OSSO is a community effort and we LOVE this community!

Our faces hurt from smiling!

The BFF Omaha Giant and Giant Joy Collective Handmade Parade was gorgeous fever dream of community and creativity✨

What a gift to parade down an alley on a Friday amongst literal works of art on a perfect October evening. It was so wholesome. We teared up more than couple of times. 🥹

Thank you to everyone who came out, everyone who made something, everyone who cheered us on, and BFF /Giant Joy Collective for making space for all of this handmade wonderful weirdness!

We’re headed to the Benson Creative District (BCD) with some handmade merry, mischief!

Old School Shakespeare Omaha is delighted to be joining the BFF Omaha and Giant Joy Collective 2nd Annual Handmade Parade on Friday, October 2nd!

The parade kicks off at 6:30 PM, starting in the alleyway around 58th Street and making its way down toward 62nd Street. Then the celebration continues at Pet Shop with live music, art, skateboarding, and more. 👉 Scroll to the last slide for the parade route!

We LOVE the spirit of this event.
No mass-produced junk.
No algorithms.
No AI.
Just Omaha people making weird, wonderful things with their own two hands all in the name of community and joy. Swoooooon!

We’ve made 100 handmade watercolor cards featuring Shakespeare quotes and info on our upcoming production of King Lear to hand out along the way, plus a few other little surprises. Scroll for some sneak peeks of what our artists are making. To be clear - we’re not performing, just JOYFULLY participating 🙂

🎉 WE DID IT! 🎉

We set out to raise $5,000 to build an OSSO website and because of our incredible community, we’ve raised over $7,200 with 80+ supporters.
