The Rose Theater is committed to enriching the lives of children and families through live theater and arts education. The Rose Theater is proud to be the place where a love of the arts begins. From the young preschooler seeing her favorite storybook burst to life in vibrant color to the shy student taking his first timid steps on stage and discovering his voice, to the teen intern with dreams of

making it on Broadway, a lifelong love of theater starts right here, under the copper domes of The Rose. The Rose Theater is home to the Omaha Theater Company – the only resident, touring, professional theater company in Omaha and one of the largest in the country! The Rose is accessible to all children. No child is ever turned away for economic reasons. “Pay-what-you-can” evenings are offered for most productions. Thousands of tickets are given to area youth-serving charities year after year. Live performances are shared from two stages at The Rose Theater: the main stage and the intimate Hitchcock Theater. Professional actor/educators offer classes in theater, directing, musical theater, singing, dancing, and more. Children ages 4 to 18 are welcome. The Rose has produced a number of world-premiere shows including Pete The Cat: The Musical, Sherlock Holmes & The First Baker Street Irregular, Leo Lionni’s Frederick, Zen Ties, Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters, The Wolf and Its Shadows, Where the Red Fern Grows, and The Little Engine That Could and has worked with renowned playwrights including James Still, Mark Medoff, Y York, Joe Sutton, and Robert Bly.

Help us spread the word! 📣

As we continue casting JUST ASK! at The Rose, we're looking to connect with performers whose lived experiences reflect the stories being told on stage.

We are especially seeking strong singers ages 12+ who identify as BIPOC and members of the Global Majority and who have lived experience with one or more of the following:

• Diabetes
• Asthma
• Anxiety Disorder
• ADHD
• Dyslexia
• Speech Impediment
• Visual Impairment
• Physical Disabilities
• Food Allergies or Other Allergies

Directed by Fran Sillau, JUST ASK! celebrates disabled voices, inclusive storytelling, and the unique experiences that make each of us who we are.

We encourage you to learn more about auditioning and submit a video audition by June 30. Callbacks will occur on July 1. Please help us share this opportunity with your communities.

The Rose Theater honors Juneteenth as a company holiday and will close their administrative offices and Youth Artists Studio Friday, June 19, in observance.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and celebrating African American culture.

We want your stories told! SHARING OUR STORIES 2026 is accepting applications NOW ⌛

🎭 The Rose seeks proposals for NEW PLAYS & MUSICALS to be developed and produced at The Rose Theater from communities whose voices are currently under-represented on our stages.

Submissions are accepted from Omaha-area & Nebraska artists as well as out-of-state friends of The Rose. We are particularly interested in artists who identify as global majority, Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color, as well as artists with exceptionalities, and other artists whose voices contribute to cultural equity to tell the stories they would like young people to engage with in our community.

Meet Katherine M. Carter, director of The Rose Theater's production of Disney's Frozen: The Broadway Musical! A New York City-based stage and opera director, Katherine brings a thoughtful eye for storytelling and a deep love of creating theatrical worlds that connect with audiences of all ages.

From the first rehearsal to opening night, she helped transform our stage into a place of magic, adventure, and sisterhood.
