Every year now I’ve shared this website of small businesses in our area owned by people color - I believe it’s a great way to support Juneteenth locally. Here’s a link to find those businesses — let’s show them some love today (and every day)!

Another way is to celebrate with our BIPOC community at the annual Juneteenth celebration! Here are the details:

The fun part about unpacking donations is that you never quite know what’s going to turn up.

This week we’ve spotted fabric panels, hand-dyed wool, clear stamps, sewing notions, washi tape, spools upon spools of thread, fancy schmancy scissors, craft kits for kids, a giant clipboard, a color systems poster, and even a book from the 1800s.

Some treasures are brand new to the floor. Others have been quietly waiting on a shelf for the right person to discover them.

And a quick reminder that Father’s Day is only 3 days away. We still have Father’s Day card kits ready to go if you’d like to make something handmade this weekend.

Whether you’re hunting for a specific supply or just seeing where inspiration leads, there are plenty of interesting things tucked around the shop right now.

Happy treasure hunting!

Here’s a little English Paper Piecing tip that can save a lot of frustration later.

If you’re using a Sewline Fabric Glue Pen to baste your EPP pieces, the secret isn’t really the glue. It’s the waiting.

After wrapping your fabric around the paper piece and applying the glue, let it sit for a full 24 hours before removing the paper template. Giving the glue time to fully dry makes a huge difference.

When you’re ready to remove the paper, slide a pin gently between the fabric and the paper piece to break the bond. The paper will pop right out without tugging, stretching, or fighting with the fabric.

Simple, but it makes the whole process much smoother.

Do you have a favorite EPP trick? We’d love to hear it.

Around here, “scrappy” isn’t just about fabric scraps.

It’s about all those wonderful odds and ends that spark an idea.

A handful of beads. A length of ribbon. A vintage button. Half a skein of yarn. A stack of paper. A lonely quilt block. The last few inches of trim. The things that don’t always fit neatly into a category, but somehow find their way into the most creative projects.

Some of our favorite makes start with a collection of leftovers and a little imagination.

If you enjoy digging through bins, sorting through treasures, and finding supplies with stories to tell, today might be your kind of day.

There’s plenty of scrappy goodness waiting around the shop. And more to come!

Fabric lovers, this one’s for you.

We’ve been spotting color and texture everywhere this week. New Peanuts fabric, vintage quilt blocks, fiber bundles, pom poms, feathers, glitter ribbon, and shelves full of materials just waiting to become something wonderful.

Our dollar fabric bins are packed, the Boho Embroidery table is still inspiring plenty of stitchy ideas, and there are books galore for quilting, embroidery, knitting, and all kinds of creative adventures.

And for anyone setting up a sewing space or looking for an upgrade, we currently have three irons in stock.

Sometimes the best part of making is simply gathering the ingredients. A stack of fabric, a handful of trims, a good book, and an idea that’s just starting to take shape.

What’s on your crafting table this weekend?

Some days the shop feels especially full of possibilities.

Today, on Treasure Hunt Thursday, we’ve got paintbrushes and PanPastels, drawers full of beads and copper findings, Distress Oxide pads, embossing powders, sequins, iron-on embroidery designs, Sashiko thread, fabric rolls, wood spools, Schacht paddles, and all sorts of other creative treasures waiting to be discovered.

One person sees a bead drawer and starts imagining jewelry. Someone else spots a stack of fabric and starts planning a quilt. That’s part of the fun around here. The same shelf can inspire a dozen different projects.

We’re also featuring a quilt sample made from one of our fabric packs, a good reminder that sometimes a small bundle of fabric is all it takes to get a new idea rolling.

If you’ve been thinking about starting something new, this might be the perfect week to stop in and browse.

Fresh finds have been landing on the floor every day.
