Good news! Latina K Presents is a recipient of the 24-26 fiscal year's Inspire Olympia impact fund!
The City of Olympia continues believing in our mission. When I read the above quoted feedback from the review panel I knew we were doing something right. The fact that the city believes in what we do is huge, it is something I would have never dreamed of 20 years ago when I arrived to this country and made Olympia my permanent home.
When I watched the May 2 meeting where they made the funding recommendations (they didn't list the organizations then), I knew which org was mine because of the oddly specific amount of money I requested. I was still cautiously optimistic after the city council voted to pass the measure, until I got the acceptance letter this morning! Now I can really shout it from the rooftop..... It's official! Though I'm not getting the full amount I requested, I'm still getting 75% of it. This means the seven shows (five Azúcar and two Spoilers) I have planned for the next fiscal year are a good chunk funded! I CAN BREATHE.
To say I'm happy, relieved, excited, especially for the future of Azúcar, is an understatement. I just know that this funding will make things a lot easier. Grateful for the people that I surround myself with, that have been supporters from the start doesn't begin to describe it. Your encouragement behind the scenes is so important to me, to all of us.
