Beyond the Aether is an experimental theater game. When you play Beyond the Aether, you take on the roles of actor, director, scriptwriter, and audience, all at the same time! You create your own character, and then tell a story in cooperation with other players. Beyond the Aether is a new type of theater game: one where you play for a whole weekend, in the beautiful woods of the Pacific Northwest

. You spend three days creating a story with your fellow players. Staff members and our rulebook help you to improvise dramatic scenes even as you act in them! Beyond the Aether is a game incorporating elements of fantasy, steampunk, and alternate history. Different plot lines during the game will have different genres. One may be an epic fantasy battle against a monstrous army, while the other is a gritty political thriller about blackmail and corruption.

Tales.There is a new edition of the Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm out that focuses less on translation and interpretation, although they are a lovely treatment of the stories, and more on the artwork that accompanies the stories. We adore the folks at Jas. Townsend for making keen historical clothing and especially props and accessories... but until today, we were unaware that they also sometimes produce a how-to!

Our costumer is often asked how to tie a cravat... here's a great place to start!

This Silk Cravat makes a handsome addition to any 17th, 18th, and 19th century gentleman's wardrobe. Approximately 13” by 69”. Woven with 100% silk thread. Hand-rolled and hand-stitched hems. Offered in white only, but you can easily dye your scarf if you wish.

Tribute to a great maker. You shall be missed, Sir.

Datamancer, aka Richard Nagy, was the first artist to make me fall in love with steampunk. (You know his work from Warehouse 13 and almost every amazing steampunk keyboard or computer mod that's gone viral online.)

Though I never had the pleasure of meeting him, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Richard's sudden passing last week. The world is truly a poorer place without him.
