Today is the last day to visit the Gallery and see the 2026 Southwest Washington Juried Art Exhibition! 📢

Starting this evening, each wonderful piece of art in this exhibit will be returning to its regular home and we will have the difficult task of saying goodbye.
While goodbyes are difficult, we do have a lot to look forward to as we start prepping for the exhibition, "From Hwagae Market to Pike Place Market" with renowned curator, Kellis Parlett!

This has been such a vibrant and wonderful collection to work with. Our deepest appreciation goes out to all who have contributed their time, talent, and resources. Your contributions mean everything to the Leonor R. Fuller Gallery.
We hope you can make it in to see it one last time! ❤️

Time is flying by! ⏰
In just one month (Sept. 18th at 6-7:30 PM) we will be hosting the Opening Reception for the highly anticipated exhibit, “From Hwagae Market to Pike Place Market” - Stories of immigrant life through the spirit of the marketplace.

This is guaranteed to be an incredible collection of art and we are thrilled to be working with such a wonderful curator, Kellis Parlett.

This exhibit will run through Sept. 14-Oct. 16. See you soon! 🎉

Artist Spotlight! 🌟
Meet John Korvell.
This lovely work of art, called: 'Waiting Room' is a color digital photograph composite and it is currently on display here at the Gallery until August 27th. 📸

John's spectacular photos have been shown in major Washington State photographic and art shows and he has been awarded "Best in Show" at the Washington State Fair, "Photographers Salon” Merit Winner at the SW Washington Juried Art Show and "President’s Choice" at the Ocean Shores Juried Art Show. John has also had a photo published in the Seattle magazine, and two photos in National Geographic Online!

John has been photographing since the 70's and has a real eye for beauty.
He says: "When I was a child, my mom asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I still recall my answer – “I want to sit on a park bench and watch people”. All these years later, that’s expanded to watching all forms of life from wherever I am. For me, the time spent observing builds to what the “grandfather” of street photography, Henri Cartier Bresson, described as “the decisive moment”. That’s when you press the shutter button in camera or my mind."

Artist Spotlight! 🌟
Meet Mary Lane.

This incredible tapestry is on display at the Gallery until the 27th of this month!
Mary is an artist and art historian. She began weaving tapestry in 1976 and in 1982 became a founding member of the Scheuer Tapestry Studio in New York City. Her tapestries have been published and exhibited internationally and have been collected by both private and corporate art collections, including the Regional Arts and Culture Council, Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and the Tacoma Art Museum.

Her teaching experience includes Parsons School of Design, the University of Maine, and The Evergreen State College.
Mary’s writing on contemporary textiles has been published widely.

Speaking of her work she says, “My work in tapestry is both large and small scale. I enjoy the monumental work for its historical reference and its embracing warmth. Miniature work attracts me with its intimacy and relative freedom. Both kinds of work offer an expressive medium to develop my ideas."

Reminder! 📅
Join us on September 18th at 6 PM for the opening reception for our new exhibit, "From Hwagai Market to Pike Place Market" which will be curated by the wonderful Kellis Parlett. 🌟

Through the works of Korean American artists, this exhibition shares stories of memory, identity, and belonging, inviting audiences to witness how the marketplace becomes a metaphor for the immigrant journey.
By connecting Hwagae Market and Pike Place Market, we will illuminate how past and present, homeland and diaspora, converge through art.

Artist spotlight! 🌟
Meet Mary Lepingwell.
This painting, Titled "Under the Covers" is currently on display here at the gallery until August 27th. 🎨

Mary graduated from Kent State University with a BFA Studio Art- Figure Painting and she came to Washington State in 1975. For forty years she enjoyed working as a mechanical drafter, first on the board with paper and pencil, and now with 3D computer software.

Mary included this statement when she submitted this beautiful painting to The Gallery: "Flesh is wonderful to paint as light goes through it and reflects. Tones change and deepen in shadow. Don't forget the folds, rolls, and wrinkles. Oil is the best medium for me. My goal is to paint what I see accurately from life, not photo-realistically, but personally. I feel that the moment, the colors, and the emotion are best captured face to face. The ultimate for me is to get the humanity while spontaneity and luscious brushwork happen at the same time."
