Hello friends!

It's been a minute since I last posted something @ Peter Kirk Litster, Musician, though current events compel me to give some respect to a traditional song that goes back originally to the late 19th century and has developed into the global anthem for freedom that it remains.

I've had this tune in my cover repertoire for years; but unfortunately, over that past few months some nihilistic crazy people in the United States decided to draw it into their psychodrama and to false-jacket it, and the righteous liberation movement it represents, as a malign influence in order to push the very antagonism that this song cautions us against.

For this reason, in today's installment of The Darkness Sessions I'm choosing to look past the malfeasant memosphere to preserve the memory and enduring message of Bella Ciao.

This is a cover of the Leonard Cohen song The Partisan, which I appreciate.
For those who know it, please understand that I don't know French and would have mangled that part, so I spared us all the embarrassment.

Also, part of the reason I call this The Darkness Sessions is because my tech game could be stronger. The lighting and the video editing program are both iffy. It's pretty dark and there are some unintentional, albeit kind of interesting, video effects. But I think the music is passable and somewhat evocative.

With that said, I offer this tragic rendition with sincere respect for the also tragic original.
