The Bethesda Little Theatre was founded in 1980 as The NIH R&W Theatre Group to promote the advancement and improvement of education in the stage arts by producing plays and musical entertainments. The purpose of our group is to assist the NIH Patient Emergency Fund and other charities by donating profits to these organizations. The donated funds are derived from the revenue generated by community
performances. All members of the group are volunteers, and contribute their time and energies to help this worthy cause. Our most recent shows have been original r***es with music compiled from Broadway, Hollywood, and American standards. Other past shows have featured a particular composer, including Jerry Herman, George Gershwin, Johnny Mercer, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and others. These annual productions usually occur late spring to early summer, with auditions held sometime in the winter. During the rest of the year, the Bethesda Little Theatre goes "on the road" with our Road shows. These performances take place at senior living centers around the Washington Metro area. All members of Bethesda Little Theatre are invited to participate in them. The Bethesda Little Theatre is always looking for people to help with productions. In addition to cast members, we also need production staff, a stage crew, a lighting crew, ushers, costumers, choreographers, and set designers. Dues are $25 for the calendar year, and donations can be made via PayPal on our website at https//blt-online.org.
