I'm very happy to announce that my painting "Dejeuner a Trois" was accepted into the 2016 American Watercolor Society show in New York! This is another painting from my neice Caitlyn's wedding, showing three people behind a table of wine glasses, candles, and plates. It is fun to paint in this "blurry" style and more challenging than it looks!

My latest news: Acceptance into the 2015 National Watercolor Society International Exhibition in California, winning an award in that show, getting signature membership in the society, and having my painting in the Traveling Show! The painting is "In Their Own World" and it depicts two girls at a wedding who are a little glazed over and in their own thoughts... I am thrilled to be part of this show!

Everyone is invited to our show at the Sandy Spring Museum! The opening reception is this Sunday, November 3, from 2-5pm. My son, Paul Colombini, will be in the show with me, displaying photography from around the world. Then on Sunday, November 17, we will both be giving special presentations: Paul will give a gallery talk about his photography from 2-3pm, and I will give a watercolor demonstration/class from 3-5pm ($20 charge--sign up through the Sandy Spring Musuem...more later).

"Heading Home Beijing", watercolor 20x22", by Susan Avis Murphy. I was pleased to find out this painting won an award in the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society's International Exhibition! The show is from Oct 5 - Nov 15, 2013, at the Crary Gallery (www.crarygallery.org) in Warren, PA. The painting won the $250 Philadelphia Watercolor Society Reciprocal Award.
