Up next in our lineup: “An Alternate You,” choreographed by James Gregg! ✨

Originally commissioned by Dance St. Louis in 2018 for New Dance Horizons, this work was part of an annual commissioned showcase that brought nationally renowned guest choreographers together with professional St. Louis dance companies to create and premiere new works.

Let’s learn more about the choreographer:

Born in Colorado and raised in Oklahoma, James Gregg is a Los Angeles-based dancer and choreographer whose work has been recognized nationally and internationally. He was the recipient of the 2015 Princess Grace Choreography Fellowship Award, won Ballet Austin’s 2014 New American Talent choreographic competition, was a finalist in Milwaukee Ballet’s 2013 Genesis Choreographic Competition, and won the International Choreographic Competition at the Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur in 2011.
Gregg’s choreography has been performed by companies and institutions including Edmonton Ballet, GroundWorks Dance Theater, BODYTRAFFIC, Whim W’Him, Cirque du Soleil, DanceWorks Chicago, Dark Circles Contemporary Dance, BalletX, Northwest Dance Project, Springboard Danse Montréal, River North Dance Chicago, Point Park University, and Western Michigan University.
As a dancer, Gregg has performed with Aszure & Artists, RUBBERBAND, BODYTRAFFIC, BJM Danse, and River North Dance Chicago, and has worked with renowned choreographers including Crystal Pite, Mia Michaels, Gustavo Ramírez, Mauro Bigonzetti, Annabelle Lopez-Ochoa, and Cayetano Soto, among many others.
