Eight months after the Aberfan Disaster of 1966, in which 144 people were killed (116 of them children), a group of bereaved mothers meet weekly above a local hotel to talk, cry and even laugh without feeling guilty. Believing they have "let themselves go," the women secretly arrange for a representative from Revlon to come and give them a talk on beauty tips.

💄 THE REVLON GIRL by Neil Anthony Docking opens August 14th at Drama Works Theatre!

Eight months after the Aberfan Disaster of 1966, in which 144 people were killed (116 of them children), a group of bereaved mothers meet weekly above a local hotel to talk, cry and even laugh without feeling guilty. Believing they have "let themselves go," the women secretly arrange for a representative from Revlon to come and give them a talk on beauty tips.

Reminder: short play proposals are due by August 10th. Come work with us! Details on how to submit can be found on our website: dramaworkstheatre.org/director-proposals

Drama Works Theatre Company in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, welcomes proposals from directors interested in being part of our February 2027 production Shorts in Winter, a collection of short plays.

Your proposal should include up to three short plays you would be interested in directing. Based on the proposals, we will select plays that will complement each other and combine to create an engaging entertainment for our audience. Please familiarize yourself with our production history, mission, and performance space and then craft your proposal accordingly.

We are a volunteer theatre committed to the craft of great storytelling for the stage.

Proposals are due by August 10, 2026.

Drama Works Theatre (Old Saybrook, CT) seeks a non-union actor to play CHRISTOPHER DUNN in The Sound Inside by Adam Rapp. A riveting miracle play that explores the limits of what one person can ask of another, this two-person play was presented on Broadway in 2019.

CHRISTOPHER is a somewhat self-absorbed Yale freshman with the ambition of becoming a writer. He enjoys sardonic humor and hates the internet--especially Twitter. He dislikes writing with his computer and so writes in longhand. He is not bothered by solitude. His relationship with Bella Baird, his creative writing professor, evolves into a friendship as he becomes more serious and honest.

Performances will be December 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13. Rehearsals will begin late October.
