The lights are officially off for the year, and thanks to your incredible generosity, we’ve dropped off pet donations to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland and monetary donations to MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital. We truly can’t thank you enough for helping turn holiday joy into real-world impact. 💛

But before we fully hibernate… 👀

As we prepare to flip the switch one last time this season (tonight, Sunday, December 28th —4:30-10pm), we can’t help but take a moment to look back at where it all began. These photos show our very first display in 2020 — and where we are now.

Elm Street Lights was born during the pandemic as a way to bring a little extra joy during uncertain times, and we’ve continued lighting up our community ever since. Between Maine weather and the occasional curious critter, repairs are inevitable each year. We reuse what we have, repurpose lights into new areas of the display, say goodbye to some, DIY new additions, and invest in the show whenever we’re able — making it a true labor of love.

If anyone ever wants to be part of that growth, we’re always grateful for outdoor holiday décor donations, new or used. Whether it’s something we can use as-is, rework into a DIY project, or give a little TLC, we love having creative options for future displays… and we’re always looking for ways to light things up just a bit more. 😂

Extention cords, LED light strands, blow molds, and wire-frame pieces (even ones that need some fixing up) are all welcome. If you have something you think we might be interested in but would need some compensation in order to part with it, feel free to reach out — we’d love to take a look!

Thank you for supporting this show, sharing it with others, and helping us spread joy year after year. 💛
If you haven’t visited yet, tonight is your last chance to catch the lights — we hope you’re able to stop by before the season comes to a close. ✨🎄

🎄✨ Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! ✨🎄

We hope everyone is enjoying today surrounded by family, friends, and a little extra holiday magic. 💛

We want to take a moment to say thank you to each and every one of you for the incredible generosity shown this season. Your donations — for both MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland — truly mean the world to us and the causes they support.

If you’re looking for something festive to do over the next few nights, the show will continue to run nightly from 4:30–10:00 PM with our extended hours, now through Sunday, December 28th, weather and tech permitting.

🎁 Donations will continue to be accepted through our final night of operation, so there’s still time to give if you’re planning a visit!

Thank you for being part of this tradition and for helping us spread a little extra joy this holiday season. 🎅✨ Wishing you all a safe, cozy, and magical Christmas Day!

✨🎄🚗 Friendly Traffic Reminder 🚗🎄✨

The show will continue to run through Sunday, December 28th with extended hours of 4:30-10pm… but with only FOUR nights left before Christmas, we know things are going to get a little busier — and we’re so grateful for all the love and excitement! 💛

We’ve been incredibly happy to see how respectful everyone has been this season. While the show only runs for about a month and supports amazing causes like MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, we know it can still be a lot for our little street. 😂

For those visiting Elm Street Lights for the first time, here’s a quick traffic tip to keep things moving:

👉 Elm Street connects to both Poplar Street and Garden Street via Homewood Blvd (see map!). Looping around or entering from these side streets makes it easy to get back to Cascade Road — no driveway turnarounds needed.

🚘 Please also be mindful to always leave enough space for vehicles to pass through safely at all times.

A little planning goes a long way in keeping the show fun, festive, and neighbor-friendly. 🎅✨
Thanks for your kindness, patience, and holiday spirit — we can’t wait to share these final magical nights with you!

🎄✨ BIG HOLIDAY UPDATE FROM ELM STREET LIGHTS! ✨🎄

With less than a week until Christmas and so many of you coming out to enjoy the show, we’ve got some great news…

👉 We’re EXTENDING our show hours!
For the rest of the season, Elm Street Lights will run nightly from 4:30–10:00 PM, pending any unexpected weather or technical hiccups.

⚠️ You may notice the on-site signs still say 9:00 PM — and this is exactly why we encourage everyone to follow Elm Street Lights here on Facebook for the most up-to-date info and announcements!

We’re also incredibly excited to see our donations continuing to grow. 🐾💛
Although we’ll be making a drop-off to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (ARLGP) early next week, we’ll continue accepting pet supply donations (along with monetary donations for the MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital) through the final night of the show, currently planned for Sunday, December 28th.

Thank you for the overwhelming support, kindness, and holiday spirit you’ve shared with us this season — it truly means the world. ✨🎅

As many of you know, in addition to collecting monetary donations for the MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, this year we’re also accepting physical pet supply donations for the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (ARLGP) — and we are already blown away by your generosity. 💛

Thank you to everyone who has dropped something off — whether big or small, every contribution adds so much warmth and kindness to this season. ❤️🐶🐱🐰

As a reminder, monetary donations can be placed in the donation box attached to our mailbox, while any pet supply donations can be placed in the clearly marked bin onsite.

You all continue to amaze us — thank you for helping us amplify the holiday spirit! ✨

❄️✨ The first real snowfall of the season blanketed Elm Street Lights in pure magic tonight. There’s just something about fresh snow that makes the lights glow a little warmer and the whole display feel extra special. We’re feeling grateful, cozy, and officially in holiday mode — and so thankful for the continued donations and kindness you’ve all shown already this season. Thanks for helping our little neighborhood tradition shine brighter every year! ✨🌲

We’re already blown away — even with the donation bin looking pretty plain on opening night, we’ve already received pet supply donations for the
Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland in addition to donations for the MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children's Hospital!
Thank you to everyone who jumped in so quickly. 💛

That said, the bin has gotten a mini makeover with some extra flare to hopefully help it stand out even more!

A quick reminder on how donations work this season:

🐾 Pet Supplies (ARLGP)
Place all physical donations in the marked bin. If it’s full, feel free to stack items beside it (weather permitting) or leave them on our porch. Any monetary donations for pet supplies can be placed in an envelope labeled ARLGP and dropped into our mailbox donation box.

💛 Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital
Any monetary donations placed in the mailbox donation box — or sent digitally via PayPal or Venmo — will go directly to BBCH unless noted otherwise.

Thank you for spreading the word here on Facebook, and for helping us honor Sarabi’s spirit in such a beautiful way. ✨🐶
