As we prepare to flip the switch one last time this season (tonight, Sunday, December 28th —4:30-10pm), we can’t help but take a moment to look back at where it all began. These photos show our very first display in 2020 — and where we are now.
Elm Street Lights was born during the pandemic as a way to bring a little extra joy during uncertain times, and we’ve continued lighting up our community ever since. Between Maine weather and the occasional curious critter, repairs are inevitable each year. We reuse what we have, repurpose lights into new areas of the display, say goodbye to some, DIY new additions, and invest in the show whenever we’re able — making it a true labor of love.
If anyone ever wants to be part of that growth, we’re always grateful for outdoor holiday décor donations, new or used. Whether it’s something we can use as-is, rework into a DIY project, or give a little TLC, we love having creative options for future displays… and we’re always looking for ways to light things up just a bit more. 😂
Extention cords, LED light strands, blow molds, and wire-frame pieces (even ones that need some fixing up) are all welcome. If you have something you think we might be interested in but would need some compensation in order to part with it, feel free to reach out — we’d love to take a look!
Thank you for supporting this show, sharing it with others, and helping us spread joy year after year. 💛
If you haven’t visited yet, tonight is your last chance to catch the lights — we hope you’re able to stop by before the season comes to a close. ✨🎄
