Sound Beach Community Band

Sound Beach Community Band In 2007, with the support of the SBVFD, we became the Sound Beach Community Band (SBCB). We’re the opening act at the St. Kisco Fireman’s Parade.

In 1955, The Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department (SBVFD) Band came together to provide marching music for members of The Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department at area Firemen’s parades in Fairfield and Westchester Counties, rapidly becoming a summer tradition with evening concerts at parks all over town. Our season starts with the SBVFD Memorial Day Parade, when, wearing red helmets and red susp

enders we lead the firefighters down Sound Beach Avenue to Binney Park, where we provide musical accompaniment to the ceremony honoring those who gave their lives that our nation might live. We help the Town of Greenwich celebrate Independence Day as we warm up the crowd before the fireworks, closing with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture when the shells start to explode overhead. We also perform at the Independence Day Association’s ceremony at Town Hall. Catherine of Siena Carnival of Fun in Riverside and we serve as the SBVFD Band at the Mt. Pick up a picnic dinner from a local restaurant and sit on the lawn in Binney Park for our 2 Sunday evening concerts. The band is always on hand on the first Saturday in December at the Old Greenwich Merchants’ First Light to play when Santa returns to the SBVFD firehouse in his vintage fire truck! SBCB is a true community band. Members range from middle-schoolers to retirees and from novices to professional musicians. Membership is open to all; only middle-schoolers need audition. new members able to play the repertoire are always welcome – so dust off that sax you played in high school and join the fun!
