My local Blacksmith group has a monthly challenge. Last month‘s challenge was to create something out of a railroad spike. I created a punch and drifted with a passthrough corkscrew. This particular spike is a low carbon “softer steel” making it purely decorative. It would likely bend on a stubborn Chianti, likely ruining your liver and fava bean dinner.

each year i add a new design theme to my stamped mugs, and this year is the Luna Moth! Last summer when i had the pleasure to see one in person at my cabin, she was so beautiful 😍 i looked them up to learn about their lives and i was surprised to find that they only live for three months, and are only in winged form for a week. When they are winged, they dont eat....they dont even have a mouth! Their purpose is to find their mate, theres no need to eat because they live off what they ate as carerpillars. For a while this made me sad....they have such a short life and they cant even enjoy a nice meal for the final week. But then i realized, the Luna Moth lives a charmed life in the warm, magical summer evenings and never suffers the bitter harsh freeze of winter. I realized that they get to fly to find love, unconcerned about all other things, and thats a wonderful way to live💚

Bee honest; how do you feel about these new mug colors? This year has been all about exploring new clays and new glazes, because my clay mining company was lost to Hurricane Helene. Its been bitterweet, i miss the clay thats gone like an old friend but its also been exciting to find new clays to play with! This is a nearly black stoneware, and i love how it shows texture. The colors are earthy, almost 70s vibe gold and avocado. Id love your take on these!

im still working out of my temporary studio while we renovate the new spot in Old Fort, but Punk'n is on the job as always as my CEO (Cat Executive Officer) 🖤🐈‍⬛🖤 He dodnt seem to mind when i accidentally made a PacMan ghost as i was cutting out slab pieces for ornaments!
