Welcome to Lucky Rooster Yarns in Olathe (OH-lay-thuh), Kansas. We need more places to connect with community and the therapeutic benefits of crafting with yarn. Lucky Rooster's mission is to offer a place to help meet these needs with yarn, tools, classes, and a gathering place. The owner, Kathleen, named the shop for her two children: the first tends to walk through life with some kind of charme

d shield around her, and the second is well described as a rooster. You might see these kids at the shop (Lucky and Rooster are not their real names!), and you might spot Kathleen's husband, Darrell, on site as well. Please take time to say hi and introduce yourself to us when you pop by. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. If you are looking for a specific yarn, tool, or class, please send a message. Sarah P. of Restless Thread in Olathe is working on more embroidered earrings for the shop. Have you seen Sarah's earrings on offer? Each one is vibrant and reflective of a particular season. Sarah loves sharing her embroidery with others, having had her work displayed at fairs and galleries, but she really loves wearing her own creations and hopes you find joy in them, too.

Lots of us talk about knitting or crocheting formalwear, but Michelle R. actually did it and brought her wedding gown to the shop as proof! The pattern for this gown was published in the 2008 Spring/Summer International Vogue Knitting magazine. Michelle altered it slightly by adding crocheted sleeves and wearing a silk dress underneath the handmade one. As a finishing touch, the buttons on the back of the gown were her "something blue."

Are you planning homemade winter wear for yourself or as gifts? Check out this new bulky weight 100% wool by Queensland. This soft yarn is feltable, which is how it got it's name: Tov is Norse for "felt"!

This new line launched with 18 colors and you can find all of them at Lucky Rooster's shop in-store and online for just $12 per ball.

But what is a yarn buddy?!

Phaedra and her associate, Cassidy, of Life's a Stitch have worked hard on this design that clips over a zippered bag opening. It allows the zipper to close partially so that your contents do not spill out, and it has lots of space for running yarn out of the bag toward your project.

These are available in a variety of colors in the shop for $15 and I expect Phaedra will bring more to her trunk show next week!
