Lessons from the Master (William Boular, Deaf Bricklayer of Atchison, KS)

William "Deafy" Boular is the very human embodiment of Kansas motto, Ad Astra Per Aspera: "To the Stars Through Difficulties." A champion bricklayer - once featured in Ripley's Believe it or Not for laying 46,000 paving bricks in less than 8 hours - Boular overcame adversity to literally lay the foundation for those who came after him. An illness at 4-years-old left him deaf & unable to speak - then at age 10, hit by a train his legs were cut off below the knee. But he did not let his difficulties define him - becoming a productive & energetic worker known for his special boots and affectionately called "Deaf" by the people of Atchinson.

Kim Anderson had a great time giving a presentation on De'VIA at the Museum of Deaf History, Arts & Culture last night! Memorable!
Kim announced last night that we decided that there would be only 20 of the Rainbow DeVIA Genre Collection books available worldwide, instead of 30! Wanted to make it extra special and rare for serious collectors! Which means, there are now only 7 books left to purchase. If you want to be one of the 20 collectors of this book - here's the link to get it. https://www.etsy.com/listing/680842136/the-rainbow-devia-genre-collection-8-x?ref=shop_home_active_2

This was the last time for the originals to be on display together, as several will be mailed to their respective owners very soon!

Was truly a pleasure having the opportunity to talk about De'VIA Genre and to encourage folks to consider donating to MDHAC to support their mission and vision! If you want to donate, here's a link to it https://museumofdeaf.z2systems.com/np/clients/museumofdeaf/donation.jsp @ Olathe, Kansas
