Class of 2021 Academy of Arts Senior Spotlight: Logan Alvarado

Logan has been a member of the Capitol Hill High School Academy of Arts for two years as a visual arts major. She has also been involved in National Honor Society and Key Club.

Her favorite memory from her time in the Academy was designing and painting banners and posters and also participating in fun activities for the community like the Fiestas de las Americas. Her words of wisdom to future Academy students are "Have fun exploring your major, participate in the community when the pandemic is over and support the fine arts because it’s you who creates the change and it can be your career!"

Logan, we are so lucky to have had your style and creativity in the Academy these last two years. You are incredibly talented and you have such a bright future waiting for you. Thank you for all of your hard work, and good luck next year!

Class of 2021 Academy of Arts Senior Spotlight: Henry Umanzor Mejia

Henry has been a member of the Capitol Hill High School Academy of Arts for the past three years. He is an incredibly talented visual art major.

His favorite memory from his time in the Academy was participating in the Fiestas de las Americas Parade & Festival each year. His words of wisdom to future Academy students are "Make the best out of your situation."

Class of 2021 Academy of Arts Senior Spotlight: Maritza Favela-Rivera

Maritza has been a member of the Capitol Hill High School Academy of Arts for all four years of high school as a dance major. She has also been a proud member of the Dance Diversity Company.

Her favorite memory from her time in the Academy was participating in the Fiestas de las Americas Parade & Festival each year. Her words of wisdom to future Academy students are to simply "Get it done."

Class of 2021 Academy of Arts Senior Spotlight: Luz Rosas

Luz has been a member of the Capitol Hill High School Academy of Arts for all four years of high school as a dance major. She is an exceptionally kind and hardworking member of our programs.

Her favorite memory from her time in the Academy was participating in the Annual Broadway R***e. Her words of wisdom to future Academy students are "always know that being apart of AoA makes you different from your other peers. My advice is to always acknowledge that and set yourself for bigger and greater achievements. Also always push forward with a proactive mindset even when it feels like it getting a little difficult. "

Luz, we are so lucky to have had you in the Academy these past four years. You always go above and beyond to show kindness to everyone you meet. You work so hard and always overcome any obstacle that comes your way. Thank you for being such a shining star. Good luck in your future!

Class of 2020 Academy of Arts Senior Spotlight: Hannah Owen

Hannah was a member of the Capitol Hill High School Academy of Arts for all four years of high school as a drama and film major. She also played a very important role in all of our school's events in the auditorium, helping with sound and lights, and was known for her singing abilities as well.

Her favorite memory was "All City Drama 2019, because we were all split up into groups with different schools and somehow all the senior Capitol Hill students ended up together by the end of the day." Her words of wisdom to future Academy students are "Always be transparent with the Academy directors. They are always willing to help and they are understanding. Don’t be afraid to ask for help."

Hannah, you have been such a shining star at CHHS in so many different ways. Your shoes will be very hard to fill, but you have set such a strong example for your classmates. Good luck in your future!

Class of 2020 Academy of Arts Senior Spotlight: Michelle Garcia

Michelle was a member of the Capitol Hill High School Academy of Arts for three years as a band major. She also served as this year's first ever Academy of Arts President.

Her favorite memories were "the classes, because it helped develop my character and my responsibility and my professionalism." Her words of wisdom to future Academy students are "Work together and don't be afraid to ask for help."

Yasmin was a member of the Capitol Hill High School Academy of Arts for one year as a Flag major.

Her favorite memory was "Learning how to be professional, responsible and a true leader. I loved the UCO Dance festival, that’s where I practiced to be professional and how to be a people person." Her words of wisdom to future Academy students are "Never procrastinate, always have fun, make friends and please be mature."

Class of 2020 Academy of Arts Senior Spotlight: Maria Martinez

Maria was a member of the Capitol Hill High School Academy of Arts for all four years of high school. She participated in Fashion, Dance and Piano.

Her favorite memory was "from Freshman year during the UCO dance festival. I was a helper at the time and I was able to talk to upperclassmen about their time in the academy. They inspired me to be me in it." Her words of wisdom to future Academy students are "Change is okay. That’s the point of growing up."
