We're interested! ππ¦
Full Circle Bookstore, in collaboration with , presents a free, one-of-a-kind event that celebrates the single most impactful book to come out of Oklahoma while raising awareness about underserved youth in our cities and shrinking access to books and libraries.
Over the course of one evening, volunteers will take shifts reading aloud from S. E. Hintonβs classic coming-of-age novel as a crowd silently reads along. The group will prominently include public figures, educators, librarians, and social workers. All ages are welcome and everyone is encouraged to volunteer to read no matter their background or public speaking experience.
Reading will commence at 6 p.m. and conclude once the last sentence has been uttered (we estimate midnight). Volunteers will read 3-4 pages at a time. Attendees will be free to move about the bookstore as they wish, but there will be an intermission for those who want to use the restrooms or purchase beverages or snacks without missing any part of the reading.
If you are interested in reading aloud at the event or you are associated with a non-profit organization that would like to partner with us, send an email with the phrase βreading marathonβ in the subject line to [email protected].
