Big Briarwood Art Collective announcement! Things are changing around here.
For the last few months, Briarwood has been on the precipice of change. And, in the spirit of adapting and making room for growth, we are reformatting part of our studio space.
One of the reasons we founded Briarwood was to give opportunity to Lansing artists. A dedicated space to work, to receive feedback from like-minded creatives, to encourage and propel your art journey forward. To belong to a community.
But in researching what is currently available, we saw a major population cut out of the running: emerging artists.
It's a little like the "Chicken and the Egg" situation- To rent a studio can be career changing! It's a move that solidifies your drive and commitment and gives you a space to grow in your practice. But, it can also be a significant cost, one that is out of range until you are more solidified in your practice. This is the space that Briarwood is looking to serve.
By transforming our large upstairs space into a creative incubator, we will be in a position to house six emerging artists at a rate lower than any other studio in the Lansing area!
Here are the details: For $50/month ($25 one-time security deposit), you will get 24 hr access to desk, wall, and storage space, as well as bathroom and community space (mini fridge, microwave, coffee station). Leases are month by month (with 30 day notice) to make room for life's uncertainty, and all utilities are included. Collective events, shows, workshops, etc. in the works!
