SHERIDAN, Arkansas — Thomas Mitchell dreamed of all the nice bucking horses he'd raise back home after the rescue that was surely on its way when his medivac chopper went down behind enemy lines.

Sixty years later at 84, he full feeds about a hundred accomplished buckers turned broodmare, babies of impressive pedigree and one pretty stellar young sire by Bobby Joe Skoal's clone and out of his good NFR mare, Runaway Bride who's first foal crop turns 4 this year. Those babies buck!

On every first Saturday in May, Mitchell invites a few Southern breeders and anybody who wants to watch, eat delicacies like smoked Bologna and feel like they have some skin in the game on Kentucky Derby Day with a little gamble on the winning yearling and 2 year olds who've been asked to join the family tradition of bucking like the pro's.
