All our work is original in design and construction. The candelabras are made of a welded metal skeleton, which is then plastered with metal lathe and several coats of plaster(with pigments added). The copper cups catch wax drippings and are removable for ease of cleaning. They are waxed and buffed to a high polish, giving them a sheen and look similar to polished stone. ary gifts for your significant other! The furniture pieces are all handcrafted of wood, and then covered with handmade paper from Nepal or Japan. Their translucent qualities are then enhanced with many coats of shellac. Antique or handmade hardware has been used whenever possible. The end product looks both unconventionally "modern", as well as classically "Old World". The original idea behind the smaller boxes was to create shrines or altars to house one's special treasures in a place that could also be transported quite easily, as would accommodate a nomadic or tribal lifestyle. The larger furniture pieces grew out of that inspiration from the pure pleasure of making shapes ever more imaginative. All the paper used to decorate both the exteriors and interiors of these pieces is handmade paper from Nepal or Japan, usually from the Lokta plant. This plant does not die with the harvesting of its bark, but continues to regenerate new fiber. The papers are exceptionally strong and the colors vibrant, though they vary from batch to batch! Therefore, as with the original intent, these pieces house the spirit of different countries, times and personalities.
