“It’s Bobby’s (Kyle Caldwell) 35th birthday, and all his friends have gathered in his New York City apartment to throw him a surprise party. The two questions that haunt the musical: Will Bobby show up? And will he make a wish?
…This isn’t your standard chronological musical…It feels like ‘Chicago’ and ‘All That Jazz,’ but is simultaneously playful, ironic and sometimes sarcastic. In this case, Sondheim seems to question the very basics of human relationships without resorting to cliches or romantic resolutions.”
