Ogden Pioneer Days rodeo and celebration, with events planned throughout July, is the biggest and best statehood celebration in Utah. This year, the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo will be inducted into the 2017 ProRodeo Hall of Fame. If you had a rodeo dad, he probably didn't make big speeches while teaching you the ropes.
That’s not how most rodeo dads operate!

Instead, he taught you to respect the animal. Showed you how to read the arena. Made sure you were back up before the dirt had settled.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, you started to understand that rodeo was never really just about the sport.

In reality, it was about showing up, doing the work and taking responsibility for what's yours.

Not every dad taught those lessons in an arena. Some taught them in the field, at the ranch or just out back behind the house at first light! But the lesson was the same.

This Father's Day, we're honoring every dad out there. Happy Father's Day from the Ogden Pioneer Days family. 🤠

Tuesday, July 21 is Cowboy and Community Cares Night at OPD. And this year, like every year, two very good things are happening under one roof…

The first is about gratitude. We’re honoring the people who show up during emergencies:
-Law enforcement officers
-EMTs and paramedics
-Healthcare workers
-Firefighters

These men and women keep our communities safe every single day. On July 21, we give them the standing ovation they deserve!

The second is about giving back. Ogden Pioneer Days will be donating part of our ticket sales that night to support kids right here in our community.

Come dressed in your purple and come ready to cheer!

Every July, artists from across the region submit their work to be considered for one of the most unique shows in the West. You see, the Traces of the West Art Show at the Eccles Art Center isn't your typical gallery exhibition!

Everything on those walls connects to the Western way of life. Landscapes. Livestock. Cowboys mid-ride. Ranch scenes painted by people who know exactly what they're representing.

The show opens July 3 during the First Friday Night Art Stroll! It's the perfect first event of Pioneer Days week and a great reminder that Western heritage isn't just lived. It's also felt, captured and passed on through art.

If you haven't made it to Traces of the West before, this is a great year for your first visit.

Rodeo week at OPD kicks off on Saturday, July 18 with the wildest night on the calendar… Bulls, Broncs and Bands! Here's how the night breaks down:

1️⃣ First up: an all-rough-stock rodeo featuring the three most explosive events in the sport. Ba****ck riding, saddle bronc and bull riding, back-to-back.

2️⃣ Then: Chancey Williams takes the stage. The former saddle bronc rider turned country star really shows off his rodeo roots every time he performs!

3️⃣ Opening the show: we’ll have a local favorite—a name you’re sure to know and love.

This night of the rodeo is particularly electrifying. Get ready to enjoy rodeo and country music on the same night, in the same arena!
