🏴‍☠️ Ahoy, mateys! Our How I Became a Pirate camp sets sail on Monday, and we’re so excited for another week of adventure, imagination, and theatre magic!

First, thank you to everyone who helped clear items from our Alice in Wonderland Jr. wishlist. Your generosity made a huge difference for our campers, and we are so grateful. ❤️

As we prepare to welcome our pirate crew, we have created a wishlist for How I Became a Pirate as well. If you’d like to help us bring this swashbuckling adventure to life, we would be incredibly thankful for any donation from the list.

Every item helps us create a fun, engaging experience for our young performers and allows us to keep providing quality arts education opportunities in our community.

A really special full-circle moment this weekend. In 2014 Lily Windham was our Small Alice in Alice in Wonderland Jr. This week, she stopped by to see our current production and took a picture with our 2026 Small Alice.

It’s hard not to smile at a moment like this.

What started as a young girl stepping onto a stage for the first time grew into a love of theatre that has shaped so much of Lily’s life. This fall, she’ll be heading to Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music to pursue a degree in Musical Theatre and continue chasing the dream that began right here.

This is why educational theatre matters.

It’s about much more than putting on a show. It’s about giving young people a place to grow, build confidence, take risks, discover who they are, and find what they love. The skills, friendships, memories, and passions developed in a community theatre program can last a lifetime.

Twelve years ago, Lily was the little girl looking up to the older performers. Today, she’s the one inspiring the next generation. You never know where that first role, first song, first line, first rehearsal, or first curtain call might lead.

We’re so proud of Lily and grateful for the reminder that theatre has a way of connecting generations, one story at a time.

As we close the book on Alice in Wonderland Jr., our hearts are overflowing with pride and gratitude.

To our incredible cast: thank you for your hard work, dedication, bravery, and imagination. Over the past two weeks, we watched you grow not only as performers, but as young people. You brought Wonderland to life in ways we never could have imagined, and we could not be more proud of each and every one of you.

A very special thank you goes to our camp director, Ameri Clark. The beautiful production you saw on stage was a direct result of her vision, leadership, patience, and countless hours of hard work. We are so grateful for the love and care she poured into this experience for our students.

Thank you also to our amazing production team: Choreographer Madelyn Linville, Stage Manager Hope Joyce, Music Director Seneca Mick, and Stage Hands Ashtyn Joyce and Reyna Davis. Without these talented young women, this production simply would not have happened. They worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every rehearsal, costume change, dance number, and technical cue came together seamlessly. The future of theatre is bright because of leaders like them.

To our Artistic Director, Scott Windham, thank you for your guidance, wisdom, and support in helping this team create something truly special.

A special thank you to First Presbyterian Church Odessa Texas for graciously hosting our camp for the past two weeks and providing a home for creativity, learning, and laughter.

There are so many people who contributed to the success of this production that we know we cannot possibly name everyone. It truly takes a village, and Basin Theatre Works is blessed with a growing village of supporters who believe in the power of arts education and our students. We are incredibly excited for what lies ahead and grateful for every person who helped us get here.

Most importantly, thank you to our community. Basin Theatre Works exists because of you. Whether you purchased tickets, bought items from our wish list, sponsored a student, volunteered your time, helped with costumes, painted sets, built scenery, provided lunches, assisted with strike, served as camp counselors, or simply showed up to cheer on these young performers, you made this experience possible.

So goodbye, Alice. Goodbye, White Rabbit. Goodbye, Mad Hatter. Thanks for taking us down the rabbit hole.

And remember: if you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there…but we’re pretty sure ours leads straight to the next adventure.

Until next time, Wonderland. ♠️♥️♣️♦️

“Oh dear, oh dear! I do hope you haven’t forgotten to come see our show!” 💙🐇

I’ve met a talking caterpillar, attended a very peculiar tea party, and somehow found my way through Wonderland, but the most curious thing of all would be missing the chance to see these amazing young performers shine on stage tonight!

Our cast has worked so hard to bring this story to life, and they would love your support as they take one final journey down the rabbit hole.

And while you’re visiting Wonderland, don’t forget to purchase a rose for your favorite performer. The roses won’t paint themselves red, after all! 🌹♥️ Be sure to grab a commemorative show pin, too, so you’ll always remember your adventure.

The question isn’t where the rabbit hole leads… it’s whether you’ll join us. ✨

Tonight at 6:00 PM at the OHS Performing Arts Center.
