For a long time, my focus was almost entirely on the frame.

Recently, I’ve started creating the internal artwork as well.

This piece incorporates a hand recreated 4th Infantry Division insignia built from wood, copper, acrylic, texture paste, oxidation, and concealed LED lighting, all housed within a ValCo frame designed as part of the same experience.

framing course update at The Guild

A lot of hard work in these frames.

What I love most is watching an artist realize they have agency here too. Profile. Color. Mood. Depth. Finish. All of it shapes the experience of the artwork held within.

It is a lot of fun exploring the point where the frame stops supporting the art and starts speaking with it.

The Guild framing course at today saw fantastic progress.

The apprentices started cutting their selected moulding and the work took a real step forward.

This is the point where the frame starts shifting from idea into object. The profile is no longer just something pulled from a pile. It begins finding its place against the spine, against the art, and within the apprentice’s own vision for the piece.

A lot of strong work today. More to come soon.

Lowrider culture already has ornament, pride, and ritual.

The frame does not soften that.

It amplifies it.

Week 2 of The Guild Framing at

Yesterday was about translation.

Image into structure. Structure into presence. Presence into possibility.

The apprentices are starting to feel what happens when a frame begins intertwining with the art.

Thank you for helping make that possible.

More to come soon.

Day 1 of 9 teaching my style of framing at The Guild apprenticeship program at The Peale Museum Baltimore

The focus was simple. Shift the way the apprentices see moulding.

Not as trim. Not as a border. As structure, surface, depth, and possibility.

We put White River Hardwoods residential moulding in their hands right away through review, stacking, and finish sampling. I also brought in ValCo Ornate Frames examples to show where those decisions can lead once material starts becoming form.

Strong first day. Good energy. Good questions.

Collaboration with Taylor Tomorrow 🤘🏼

This isn’t art in a frame.
This is a collaboration.

Taylor’s art is surface,
time, erosion, emotion, memory layered in

The doesn’t sit back silently
it stabilizes the chaos
it controls the pace
it decides how you enter the work

That edge between control and collapse that’s where this piece lives
