Another collaboration with Neurowaxx

Neurowaxx created this gorgeous oil painting of Frankie and Travis doing what they love.

I ( ValCo Ornate Frames ) had the privilege of building the frame around it.

The frame and the art were designed to live together as one piece.

Second exhibition for this collaboration with Julie Yao.

Julie created this painting (untitled) for The Roosevelt frame.

Currently on exhibition with Anne Arundel County Public Library. I’ve really enjoyed watching these collaborations move beyond MICA and continue finding opportunities to be seen.

Blue Platoon is back on a gallery wall.

Recently selected for an Anne Arundel County Public Library community art exhibition.

I’ve been making a point of getting my work out of the studio and in front of people. This one is particularly personal. Blue Platoon reflects my transition from soldier to artist.

For a long time, my focus was almost entirely on the frame.

Recently, I’ve started creating the internal artwork as well.

This piece incorporates a hand recreated 4th Infantry Division insignia built from wood, copper, acrylic, texture paste, oxidation, and concealed LED lighting, all housed within a ValCo frame designed as part of the same experience.

framing course update at The Guild

A lot of hard work in these frames.

What I love most is watching an artist realize they have agency here too. Profile. Color. Mood. Depth. Finish. All of it shapes the experience of the artwork held within.

It is a lot of fun exploring the point where the frame stops supporting the art and starts speaking with it.

The Guild framing course at today saw fantastic progress.

The apprentices started cutting their selected moulding and the work took a real step forward.

This is the point where the frame starts shifting from idea into object. The profile is no longer just something pulled from a pile. It begins finding its place against the spine, against the art, and within the apprentice’s own vision for the piece.

A lot of strong work today. More to come soon.
