Paul Murphy Pyrography

Paul Murphy Pyrography Artist Paul Murphy is skilled in the art of pyrography, also known as wood burning. Paul essentially "paints with fire."

Inspired by nature and wildlife, Pyrography Artist Paul Murphy sketches illustrations of wildlife, then burns the images into wood and gourds. He employs the traditional art of Pyrography, which dates back to ancient Egypt. The art involves scorching a piece of wood or other natural material with a heated metal tip in place of a brush or pencil. Paul specializes in high-realism wildlife and miniat

ure burns. He portrays the natural world in fresh ways to express his profound appreciation of animals and nature. He is moved by the textures he perceives in the wood. Paul finds the art of wood burning relaxing. He exhibits in shows throughout Wisconsin. He also gives demonstrations to Boy Scout troops, 4H students, woodworking groups and schools. Paul is a member of The Wisconsin Wood Working Guild and the NEW Wisconsin Visual Artists. If you have a project you would like to commission, perhaps a favorite wildlife scene - Paul is up to your challenge!
