Today is a day I will carry in my heart forever.
Today, Chiqui Chiqui officially opens its doors to the world with the launch of its website, marking the beginning of a new chapter in my life: my official debut as a fashion designer.
Fashion has lived within me long before I could have imagined this moment. My inspiration was born at home, watching two extraordinary women: my mother and my maternal grandmother, Carmen Sandoval De San Miguel, affectionately known by everyone as Mita Carmín.
Mita Carmín was a respected dressmaker and seamstress in the town of Ciales, Puerto Rico. I grew up watching her carefully cut patterns, transform fabrics into beautiful garments, and listening to the unforgettable sound of her sewing machine working tirelessly. Without realizing it, those moments planted a seed within me that is blooming today.
My journey as an artist has taken me down remarkable paths, allowing me to tell stories through painting, design, and Puerto Rican culture. Today, that same creative passion has given me the opportunity to fulfill a dream that has lived within me my entire life: creating a fashion brand that reflects our essence, our roots, and our beauty.
Chiqui Chiqui was born from a love for Puerto Rico, from memories, the sea, our culture, and the belief that art can be experienced beyond the canvas. Every design is an extension of my story and a tribute to those who inspired me to create.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who has believed in me, supported my art, and is celebrating this new beginning alongside me.
I would also like to make a very special mention of my niece, Evelyn Patricia Delgado, for her talent, dedication, and for helping me build and bring this beautiful website to life. This launch would not have been possible without her.
Today, I celebrate this achievement with gratitude, excitement, and great anticipation for what lies ahead.
