Welcome to Costuming! From choosing the perfect looks to putting together the details that make each character feel REAL, our costuming crew helps transform actors into the people they’re playing on stage.

Whether you’re obsessed with fashion, love thrifting, enjoy being creative, or just want to try something new, there’s a place for you in Costuming! You don’t have to be an expert! We are always looking for new people with creative ideas and a willingness to help.

Yesterday marked our last Spartan Players workshop of the summer! 🎭☀️

We explored our main character’s personality and perspective on the world, while also working through movement, behavior and environment exercises. We got creative and experimented how to move as an ensemble, followed by cold reads- all in preparation for our upcoming production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime! 🐾🌙

We had an amazing turnout, with everyone from Spartan Players alumni to young actors still in middle school joining us. Thank you so much to everyone who came out today! We hope you had a great time and got a little taste of what the Fall play will bring. Audition material is available and sign up for September 10th auditions is posted! 💙

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back, as well as some new faces into the Spartan Players family at our Kickoff on 9/8! See you there! 🎭✨

🎭 CREW SPOTLIGHT: LIGHTING + SOUND CREW! 💡🔊

Take a look at our amazing lighting and sound department! Are you interested in programming the lighting effects or sound cues on stage? If so, then this is right job for you! You don’t need experience to get in on the fun!

Our lighting + sound crew is in charge of:
- Creating a cue sheet for lights and sounds
- Programming practical and stage lighting and sound
- Attaching microphones to the actors
- Changing lighting during the show
- And many more things!

If you’re interested in applying for lighting and sound, keep an eye out for the interest meeting on Google Classroom for crew applications! We can’t wait to see you there! 👏

Another successful workshop today at OTHS, we did acting and vocals based off of our spring musical Cabaret today!! Thank you to all who attended and hopefully learned something new! We hope everyone had fun, don’t miss the last acting workshop next Tuesday, 8/25!! 🤩😝💖

WOW! What a huge turnout for our Cabaret dance workshop today led by our very own Lynette Keller Werthwein ! We love seeing our dancers/actors/alumni coming together, thank you to all who came! Missed this one or want to come to another? Well guess what, we have TWO MORE amazing workshops this Thursday and next Tuesday. Thursday will be the singing and acting side of Cabaret, next Tuesday we will dive into auditioning with our fall show, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE THERE!! 🎭💃👯‍♀️

Our first meeting of the year was full of BIG ideas, exciting plans, and lots of laughs! From upcoming shows to fun events, we’re getting ready to make this school year one to remember.

🎭 CREW SPOTLIGHT: HAIR AND MAKEUP CREW! 💄

Welcome to our glam squad known as the Hair and Makeup Team! Want to work behind the scenes on the wigs, hair and makeup looks that bring our characters to life? The Hair and Makeup Team is right up your alley. We accept people with all ranges of talent from beginners to pros. Whether you already love doing hair and makeup or you’re interested in learning something new, everyone is welcome, and we’d love to have you join our team. 💋✨

Our glam squad is in charge of💕:
- Designing a Hair and Makeup plot with inspiration photos for each character
- Creating face charts to plan and map out each character’s look
- Styling and maintaining wigs and actor’s hair
- Doing final touch-ups before the curtains open
- Making sure looks stay consistent throughout the production
- And so much more!

If you’re creative, interested in hair and makeup, or just looking for a fun way to get involved behind the scenes, Hair and Makeup is the place for you!

It is always a challenge selecting our winners when we have so many talented, dedicated, and hardworking members in our company.
However, this group have gone above and beyond to prove their loyalty to the program, their passion for theatre, and to build a collaborative environment for all. Thank you for being such compassionate leaders and for all of the time you pour into making the Spartan Theatre Program successful!
