Last night I had the greatest time covering the big The Smile show at the St. Augustine Amphitheater. for QROmag.com The Smile is the side project of Radiohead members Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood touring with only one album under their belts. Despite the wealth of material, the band made up for it with a fantastic light display and a lot of interaction. This was definitely a fun show to work with and if they are coming to your area definitely get your tickets!

Hello everyone! It has been awhile since last post. I've not been doing as much photography as I'd like but recently had the opportunity to do the big Sleeping Beauty dance recital performance by Dance by Sheila at the beautiful Desance Performing Arts Center on campus of Central Florida College. How lucky is Ocala to have a theater like that for all of the local performers to showcase their talents in? Here are a few of the images. All are available to purchase. I just need to know which image # and size which is found at the website in the upper right hand corner of each image. Some images may be cropped from what is shown for proper print ratio, depending on which size is chosen. Shipping is $7 but every order over $40 is eligible for free shipping.
4x6 $8
5x7 $15
8x10 $25
16x20 $60

Great time out at the St Augustine Amphitheater with another great Blackwater Sol R***e in the books this weekend. JJ Grey and Mofro, Lukas Nelson, and Robert Cray killed it.

Hi folks. It's been a minute or year since I've last posted anything here. I've been posting mainly on Instagram. Anyhow, I hope all are well and want to thank everyone for their support of my love. I recently had the opportunity after 20 years of living in North Florida to head down to Cape Canaveral and go to Kennedy Space Center. I woke up at 3am and drove down to capture the NASA SLS rocket all lit up like the Empire State Building in the predawn hours. This was taken from Playalinda across the water from the NASA complex at Merritt Island. The sky didn't have much going on and I really wanted to create something hyper surreal and dramatic so I made this composite to show the drama of man going back to the moon after almost 50 years. I will be adding this print to my Etsy shop for purchase soon so keep an eye out for that. If you're not following me on IG you can follow at www.instagram.com/brettmissickphotography

Hello everyone. These cold days (and nights) give many of us time to go back through some older images and re work them up. Even here in "sunny Florida". I've FINALLY learned after many years of chasing summer Milky Way here in Florida that winter is indeed the time to get out and shoot. Minimal humidity and typically clear skies at night. While it's not the ideal time to shoot the core of the beast, it still provides for some great images. Weather has been cold and damp last couple of days even dipping to 28 yesterday morning (again, by Florida standards). So, I found a set I took in Joshua Tree National Park back in 2018 that while I had edited it at some point, now that my post processing has greatly improved I thought I'd give it a go again. This is a 10 image stack on tripod. All shot at ISO 6400 f2.8 15mm 20 seconds each. I edited this a bit differently than I may have initially. For this edit I edited in Photoshop using stacked smart objects with median filter for the sky then blended it back into the foreground. Yes, I could have used Sequator but I find that it is hit or miss going that route as my colors sometimes get muted for some reason. I then used various adjustment layers as well as the astronomy tools actions pack to finish this off. Pretty stoked at how well this version came out and how much noise got removed shooting at ISO6400. I know understand why musicians go back and re work their old music some 20+ years after release. Appetites evolve as does technology.

Happy holidays everyone! It's been a long minute since I last posted something here. I apologize. I think I said this same thing the last time I shared anything here. Got an image from the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains taken back in October. The colors were at/post peak up on the mountains but had just begun to move downhill. We hiked into this fall in the Pisgah National Forest after a nice 15 minute walk with the dogs. So peaceful and very much relaxing. Nobody around but us and the forest.

Hi everyone. Happy weekend. Recently, my buddy Daniel Bray Photography and I took a quick 2 day road trip up to the Pandhandle to finally get to this location I've been wanting to get to for awhile now. After a 4.5 hour drive and fighting water spouts and heavy rains we made the 1 mile trek down the beach using no light except our red headlamps to illuminate our way. Along the way we had to clear fallen trees, jump/wade small creeks and dodge incoming waves. As we got closer, a large shadow was seen on the horizon. Somewhat menacing but yet recognizable. As we walked closer she came out of the shadows and we were greeted by her namesake. Of course, Mother Nature wanted to spoil the party so decided to fog us in despite several clear nights ahead of our arrival and afterwards. We were just playing the cards we were dealt with and forged on nonetheless. At one point a very small window of semi clear skies opened up allowing us to shoot like mad for 3-5 minutes before swiftly closing in again. Had it been a clear night, I would have got the dream shots. However, this is what I had envisioned. Composites are not something I do regularly but when you drive long distances and weather does not cooperate you have no choice.
