I am continuing to work on pieces that I have had in mind for a while. Inspired by ‘s book Turning Decorative Bowls, this one is from Spanish cedar and about 11 inches in diameter. Finished with Shellawax friction polish.

I have been working on this piece for a while. It sat on my bench for months until fellow turner told me that the wood would tell me what it wanted to be. It started out as a jug until the wood turner made a big hole in the side. So it decided to be a canister. Olive with a walnut lid and black wood k**b. The cracks are filled with aluminum powder and epoxy. Magnets in the lid keep it in place. Finished with carnuba wax.

Flame box elder - thanks to James McClure for the instruction on turning a calabash bowl. I have had this piece of wood for a long while and this round bottom bowl shows off the grain beautifully. Finished with hard wax.

Just wrapped up my third cake stand project and I'm so impressed with the results! The 12-inch spalted hickory top is the star of the show, and the base and stem from Got Wood, LLC add a touch of elegance with their unique wavy grain. Thanks for helping me create something beautiful!

More lemon eucalyptus. There was a large bark inclusion that I filled with Superclear Epoxy table top epoxy tinted with Eye Candy Pigments Okinawa Green. This wood is so nice to turn and work.

New lemon eucalyptus bowl. This is won wood to turn and it finishes beautifully. Nice chatoyance and very light.

Here is a maple cake stand turned from 3 pieces. It’s the quarterly project for the club.

A shallow maple bowl is a new shape for me but I am pleased with the result. A little spalting, a little ambrosia color and some really nice orange splashes.

Bowl turned from lemon eucalyptus that was salvaged after the 2024 hurricanes that hit the Tampa, FL area. It is great wood to turn and finishes easily.
