The 2026 Cooper International Violin Competition winners have been chosen! 🏆🎻
A huge congratulations to 16-year-old Mingzhe Ye for taking home first place with a breathtaking performance of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35, alongside the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra and conductor David Danzmayr! ✨

Rounding out our incredible podium, Elizabeth Poppy Song (16) finished in second place and Minji Choi (16) took third. This year’s competition awarded over $40,000 in prizes!

A total of over $40,000 in cash and prizes were awarded during the competition. First place winner Mingze Ye’s prize package also includes the use of a fine violin from Jonathan Solars Violins and an appearance with the ProMusic Chamber Orchestra during their season, a $500 Arkady Fomin Scholarship Fund Opportunity Award, granted directly to the winner by the North Shore Chamber Music Festival, as well as a lesson with ProMusica Chamber Orchestra Creative Partner Vadim Gluzman.

The Cooper Competition Round 2 has wrapped and the talent has been breathtaking! 🎻✨ Huge congratulations to our 4th place finisher, Emrik Revermann, and our two 5th place finishers: Hyunsuk Ryu, and Jiye Kang.
The stage is set for the Finals! Join us Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Warner Concert Hall to see Elizabeth Poppy Song, Mingzhe Ye, and Minji Choi perform concertos with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra.

Eighteen exceptional young violinists representing eight countries. Five days of remarkable performances. One extraordinary competition.

The Cooper International Competition for Violin begins Thursday, August 6, in Warner Concert Hall at Oberlin College and Conservatory. The competition culminates Monday, August 10 at 7:30 p.m. when three finalists perform concertos with ProMusica Chamber Orchestra under the direction of David Danzmayr.

All rounds are free and open to the public. Watch every round live at oberlin.edu/cooper. The semifinals and finals will also be streamed by The Violin Channel.

This is the week! The Cooper International Competition begins Thursday.

Eighteen of the world's most promising young violinists are coming to Oberlin to compete in one of the premier violin competitions. From Thursday through Monday, audiences can experience extraordinary performances as competitors advance through each round in the Conservatory's Warner Concert Hall.

The competition culminates Monday, when three finalists perform concertos with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra under the direction of David Danzmayr.

Congratulations to the top three winners in the 2025 Cooper International Competition for Violin!
Last night’s finals round featured incredible performances by the three finalists and ProMusic Chamber Orchestra, Norman Huynh, Conductor. Edna Unseld was awarded first place, with second place going to Julia Xiaozhuo Wang, and third place to Tiantian Lu. These young violinists competed with 16 others throughout the week for over $40,000 worth of prizes. Tonight’s the night for the Concerto Finals of the 2025 Cooper International Competition for Violin!
Meet the 2025 Cooper Concerto finalists: Julia Xiaozhuo Wang (17, Nanjing, China), Edna Unseld (13, Zurich, Switzerland), and Tiantian Lu (15, Ningbo, China). Tonight these three violinists will perform complete concertos with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Norman Huynh. The finals begin at 7:30 pm in Finney Chapel, are free and open to the public, and will stream live at concert time on the Violin Channel at http://theviolinchannel.com/vc-live-2025-cooper-international-competition and on our website at http://oberlin.edu/cooper-competition/violin-2025/livestream
