🎓CONGRATS GTA GRADS!
Melissa Tyler has earned her BFA Design & Technology for Theatre (Scenic Design & Technical Direction) from the University of North Georgia!
Melissa's favorite GTA moment:
"One of my most favorite memories from my time at UNG was the video all of the techies made at the end of the Sister Act production. We all joined in a line marching across the stage sing the show tune Spread The Love Around. This was so special because as techies we often don't get to be in the spotlight so getting to have fun and make the video after the show was so entertaining and memorable. "
What GTA means to Melissa:
"GTA has shown me that we are able to be who we are and to not apologize for it. That in a world where you can be anyone you should be yourself. Which sometimes is the hardest person to be. To strive for what you want. You may not have the skills at the start but to never let that hamper the decision to go for it. If you don't try then you never will but if you keep going step by step one day you will turn around and find you have surpassed what you thought you were reaching for. "
What's next for Melissa:
"After graduation I am moving to Flat Rock North Carolina as a production assistant for six months at Flat Rock Playhouse. While there I will be working in the scene shop as a carpenter and during performance runs I will be working back stage. After that I will have the month of December free before I move to Tampa Florida for another six months. In Tampa I will be working at Bush Gardens as a senior Technician. Upon completion I will be open to any opportunities that may arise. "
Congratulations Melissa!
