To witness Damien Geter's "American Apollo" at West Edge Opera is to want to hear more of Geter's music, which you can under the baton of Oakland Symphony conductor Kedrick Armstrong this fall. Armstrong also led the WEO musicians, "bringing out the score’s multifarious colors and motivic connection while holding things together through tricky metrical changes."

“By now, it’s no secret that the Oakland Symphony had a darn good 2025-2026 season. Music Director Kedrick Armstrong is a flat-out star, and he constructed a season that outshone the orchestra’s neighbors in vision and excitement.”

Led by Kedrick Armstrong, the orchestra performed Dett’s 1932 oratorio The Ordering of Moses — it deserves to be played more often.

We are so proud to feature our MUSE VIVO ensemble members alongside the OSYO at our special free and all-ages Mother’s Day concert on Sunday, May 10.

The concert will feature soloist Rahul Ghosh, delivering a dazzling performance that highlights the dedication of our young musicians. This performance showcases the incredible trajectory of our students from intensive school-based training to the symphonic stage.
