We are back for a social distancing movie night! this Saturday, August 22! We believe personally and as a community that in these challenging times, we need to find and share joy if we can do it safely. We invite you to an evening of music and film in the Park Blvd Plaza, the grassy area in the intersection of Park Blvd and E 21st Street. We will draw circles in the grass far apart from each other and will, of course, require masks. Having distanced circles for individuals or small groups would give people some room to safely take their masks momentarily, but masks are to be used anytime you step away from your circle. The event is free and BYOP (Bring Your Own Popcorn). There will be music and dance performances start at 7 pm. Movie will start at dark around 8:45 pm.
It’s been a long time since we organized a movie night (6 years!) We, the volunteers, have been busy during these past years, but now we are ready to resume this project in a new form. We still have some remaining funds from the Emerging Festivals and Community Events Grant, that we received from the City of Oakland in 2014, and while the weather is warm, we will use the funds to create a safe space to share music and movies.
If you have questions or want to volunteer, send us a comment or message us.
