Happy Birthday Shock G!!! ⁣

Your birthday was just a few days ago, August 25th. ⁣

You were a light in this world as you shared the brilliance of your artistry and business acumen with the world.⁣

A funk soul brother at heart you changed the rap game from right here on this rich soil of the Bay. ⁣

I’m happy to have met you, been in community with you, and captured a few shots of you in the process.⁣

Your legacy is powerful and I’m grateful to have a tiny imprint of your massive stamp on the world!⁣

Here at B-Love’s Guest House I am taking time to remember Oakland’s deep legacy of music through photographs.⁣

Oakland Picture Lady: Tales of a 90’s Girl is a photo exhibition of my photographs, short stories, and collages I created in the 1990’s. Some of the people featured in this photo exhibit have since passed away. ⁣

I will take time during Saturday’s event to honor those who have passed on with an altar of remembrance using the original photos in my collection.⁣

The altar will honor a few of the Bay Area’s most decorated artists in the Hip Hop and cultural arts sscene including Shock G, Baba Zumbi, Rafiq Bilal, Pam the Funkstress, Tupac, J. Spencer, Carlos Aceituno, Cougnut, Special 1 from Conscious Daughters, and Gift of Gab from Blackalicious.⁣

Join us as we remember musicians, and cultural activist who have had an indelible impact on the Bay Area and the world of Hip Hop music.⁣

The event is Saturday August, 28th, 2021 from 1pm to 6pm at B-Loves Guest House.⁣

Love,⁣

B-Love⁣
